54-46 Was My Number by max

Greetings dear readers,

In case it wasn't already clear, YTMND is not closing on May 1st. We've had a number of servers die over the last year, but I haven't given up on you miscreants yet.

We *do* need some new hardware though, and we're going to be doing a sponsorship drive this week to fund a new server. More details inside.

Howdy folks,

Lots of you have emailed asking about getting a copy of YTMNDs to save after the site is gone. I just wanted to show you guys the cover of the DVD we're currently in the process of having pressed to address that question.

Her Majesty by max

Hi buds,

Just a quick note to let you know I'll be attending ROFLcon again this year. If I can arrange it, I hope to give out some swag there, but I'm not promising anything.

That's all.

Strobe by max

Greetings,

I hope you've all been having a good time since the new launch. I've been busy with non-YTMND stuff but I've been trying to keep an eye on my flock. The launch included quite a few server migrations which I think I can safely say went well at this point.

Before I go further, I wanted to mention Kiva again and remind everyone that we've extended the offer to match Kiva loans with YTMND sponsorship dollars indefinitely, so if you'd like to do something charitable and highlight your favorite YTMNDs at the same time, Kiva micro-loans are a great way to do it. The YTMND Kiva team has lent an impressive $27,075 for only having 18 members. If you haven't yet, join Kiva, join the Kiva team and do something decent for once.

Minor dev updates follow.

Boom Boom by max

Hi buds,

Welcome to the latest version of YTMND. In addition to updating the design and software, we've also upgraded a number of our servers and it should result in a much
faster site.

As with any major launch, there will be a number of bugs that pop up, and we're running the site in
"debug" mode, so please bear with us while we hammer out the kinks in this new software. If you
encounter a bug, see something that looks weird or even think a feature is confusing, please
report it, seriously. Changes are listed inside.

Duet in Stereo #1 by max

Hello again,

We're still running at reduced capacity but after emptying out the YTMND bank account, we have a lot of new hardware on the way. A good portion of our systems are relatively old at this point, so I think it should make for some major improvements in speed. There will be some downtime sometime next week but I hope to get it done in the wee-hours so it doesn't bother anyone. More information on the new hardware inside.

In an effort to be more communicative, I'm going to try and give you an update you on YTMND 2.1. I've set up a real project-management system available at http://bugs.ytmnd.net, which is infinitely more useful than doing bug tracking and feature requests on the wiki. Keep reading for details.

Feeling Good by max

Hi buds,

We're putting the site up at reduced capacity for a couple days while we wait for some new servers to arrive. Due to some bad hardware luck, our content server and backup have both been down for a few days.

More updates soon.

Tomorrow Untrodden by max

Greetings.

I've taken the next few weeks off from work to have another YTMND development drive. This will include much-needed maintenance, bug fixes and a few new features. In addition to this, I've been working with Big Spaceship over the last month working on a new design, which I'll be implementing as well. If I have the remaining time, I'll be fixing up the admin panels and possibly adding some new mods.

So this is your chance to complain about anything (aside from the design) that's been bugging you recently or stuff you've been dying for.

A Glorious Dawn by max

Hello friends,

Now that we're a few days in and some of the rage has settled, I figured I would update with a more complete news post and changelog for YTMND 2.0.

Users should note that there's a new contest to see how you can make use of the new YTMND template options, so far they've been mostly overlooked but they are major. Info inside.

Return Of The Mack by max

hi pals,

Well, it's been a long road to this point. Today is YTMND's sixth birthday. I'm too tired to be funny, so here it is.

What you see here is a culmination of almost two years of my work. That being said, it is currently almost completely broken.
Before you go off and explore, please read the rest of this news if you're a registered user.

Crimson and Clover by max

Greetings Friends,

I've been avoiding updating the news for some time now; I've been waiting for enough newsworthy events to make a full post on. Thanks to everyone participating in the relaxing contest, as soon as the final votes are tallied, I'll be sending out the prizes!

First off is the YTMND Store, which is now open. We haven't started selling shirts from the contest yet, but as we do some test prints to see how well they turn out we'll add more products. Go check it out and see if it's of any interest to you. Orders will begin shipping on Wednesday.

You Can't Judge A Book By Its Cover by max

Hello buds,

A good deal of exciting news on the forefront. First up is that after months of bugging the company who makes the software which turns our GIFs into SWF, they sent us the C++ source code for the GIF portion of the code and davidc managed to track down the bug. Now we're just waiting for them to send us a new version of the binary and we'll be ready to do another test. A little more about this at YTMND Development Blog. You can also view the source code of the new flash template here.

Next up is that the refactor is now being worked on at least 30 hours a week. We have the new design for YTMND.com. I've spent the last few months slowly rewriting all of the core libraries where needed and the dev site is beginning to come together. It's coming.
