Greetings.
I've taken the next few weeks off from work to have another YTMND development drive. This will include much-needed maintenance, bug fixes and a few new features. In addition to this, I've been working with Big Spaceship over the last month working on a new design, which I'll be implementing as well. If I have the remaining time, I'll be fixing up the admin panels and possibly adding some new mods.
So this is your chance to complain about anything (aside from the design) that's been bugging you recently or stuff you've been dying for.
I'll keep you guys updated over the next few weeks in between eating handfuls of adderall. Please provide useful feedback and bug reports. While I'm working on the new codebase, I'm going to be moderating with an iron fist. There will be zero tolerance for spamming/trolling/etc, so unless you want all your accounts deleted and to be IP banned at our routers, please try and behave for once.
Please do not bother me about being a moderator, when the time comes I'll make a news post about it.

I need to be able to see my votes (the purple? stars that show up after i vote) they show up immediately but upon any refresh they are gone. As a high volume voter it is very discouraging and wasteful to vote on a site and have "what" pop up meaning i already viewed/voted. It's been this way since at least may, it was a problem before then, but was fixed, but then came back.
Also it would be nice to have random ytmnd back and working; random.ytmnd.com goes to a site once "unviewable."
Also i can vote on most sites while they load, so i don't have to view them. I usually do view them, but if my internet is going slow, then i don't.
FIX:YTMND needs to rise back to its glory days of 05/06, but i guess that falls to the users making good content.

PLEASE fix the fact that when I vote I can't see how many stars I gave a ytmnd at the same time as I see what the average rating is anymore. It used to be so convenient to tell if I'd seen an old ytmnd or not. Some of us have been here for years and don't want to look at random dick shots or hear loud screeching sounds we downvoted years ago.
I think I read most of the comments in this journal post twice. I feel very concerned about the situation that is creating here. I sense so much hate, whether it is staged or not. I don't want to talk about me, but I have to tell you this: I'm quite a sensitive person and I visit this site maybe 20 times a day. I like to see what people share, I like the funny stuff, but when I look harder I read the comments, I see downvotes driven by pure hate, jealousy or even for no reason at all (dare I say "just for fun".) And since the site is up again the negativity is palpable more than ever. I'm even experiencing it firsthand, thanks to a user who doesn't act like his/her blood is flowing to his/her brain. As Max said in a post in 2007 (I'm paraphrasing,) freedom of speech is ok, but when the shit hits the fan you have to spend a lot of time cleaning the fan. And a soapy sponge is not enough.
I like to imagine this site as a place where you have fun, reflect and discuss about what people feel important to share. Do we really have to fight against each other, for things which don't even concern our role in this community? Do we have to scream and offend, saying the obvious most of the time? Do we have to judge, condemn and bash just because we think we have a right to say whatever we want?
I live in a place where school books used to be regulated by the "government" and still there's a lot to complain about openness. Stephen Colbert often jokingly says "Freedom isn't free." Maybe he's right, if you think about it. We have been given a chance to express ourselves, by a sole person. Let's not spoil this opportunity, we cannot take anything for granted. For the sake of this community, behave yourself. All of us. Me too.

joey, btape isnt a mod. there hasn't been an admin page since 2.0 launched hence he has had no special mod insight or capabilities.
rodheh, you chose btape only on reputation. his a activity dwindled before you even joined. same goes for my join date. i just happened to have communicated, reasonably, believe it or not, with more people here. hence, i have a better understanding of this place as a decrepit social circle. and believe it or not, provoking people in comments and harassing PMs isn't an indication of much of anything beyond how silly someone can get with the internet.
getting more in depth with your dumb list, all the users you chose are either your meebo/comment buddies or a few stragglers who post nothing and (as it just so happens) haven't taken the time to call you out and explain how far off you are (heh). yes, we need as a mod:
lax83 - a user who has posted the most ear rape sites and exclusively votes of friend-sites or people who 5 him (sorry lax, love your antics but it's true). lets make lax a mod so he can create the sites he regulates while he regulates them.
eightbitprodigy - a user who presumably is your buddy. i can't imagine who else would be. jimmm? but yeah, 8bit, a relatively newer user who makes some nice sites sometimes but who cares. he has proven (like nearly everyone else on this list) unreasonable user bias. non mod in my opinion.
wisdumcube - a user who rarely visits anymore and only expresses hate and regret for ytmnd. also who gets in more petty fights than i do.
kekko - a nice guy. brings a non-american stance. mode? sure. also, he is gay and thinks im hot. sure, sure :) i would love a homosexual mod to scare off all you homophobic retard users who hear FAGGOT.wav and experience their balls crawling up inside themselves with laughter. my vote is for kekko, faggots.

Anyway, here's the thing: trying to instigate positivity and productivity from the apathetic/pathetic masses of ytmnd is meaningless. Most of the users active in the community are trolls or mental cases, or something in between. Of those listening who are not part of the problem, 90% of them have observed the community climate and have independently reasoned something to the affect of what you have said, so they don't need to hear it, and don't get involved ever. They are the type of people that intuitively avoid any and all pissing contests, and are very self-assured, of both their stature and penis size, but because they are non-interventionists nothing gets improved. The other 10% tread lightly and are fucking awesome. Or at least, this is what I tell myself.

i have 4 high effort sites almost ready to go. 2 of them are pandering crowd pleasers and two of them are more my kind of humor. even users who hate me/harass me/alt downvote me might like them.
however, i'm just not going to post them right now. what would be the point in that? it sucks i have to wait.

cmon folks, i've only been here 3 years and i come back every day. Maybe in 7 more years i'll be bitter because someone isn't using their free time to take their project to where I want it. A Louis Vuitton background doesn't stop me from making a site to the best of my ability (and that's relative to sobriety) I don't appreciate earrape, but it happens so does spam and trolls(it's the internet!) Max asking for bug reports and feature recommendations doesn't warrant an onslaught of crap thrown. You say "fuck yo couch" and I say get outta my house....
I "fell for the trap" on 1/4/2008 and thought it was another in 2009 with 2.0 launch. I waited days with hope until that news post.
We all have a difference in opinion on what's funny, witty or relevant. I've got what....34 sites and only 2 over 1k views, less than half have 3+ stars....someone said earlier that we have lots of talent here, and i agree. But not everyone has those skills, are they(I) now a part of what's killing the site? Let's just say thanks max for trying, i'll see what it's like tomorrow.
