Boom Boom
Welcome to the latest version of YTMND. In addition to updating the design and software, we've also upgraded a number of our servers and it should result in a much faster site.
As with any major launch, there will be a number of bugs that pop up, and we're running the site in "debug" mode, so please bear with us while we hammer out the kinks in this new software. If you encounter a bug, see something that looks weird or even think a feature is confusing, please report it, seriously. Changes are listed inside.
Ch-ch-changes
I've been working on this new version for a while, and I haven't done a very good job of keeping track of all of the changes. I started using the new YTMND bug tracker/project management tool around four months ago, and you can see a list of the tracked changes in YTMND 2.1 here.
YTMND 2.1 also brought some fairly large technical changes, which I'll go more into once I get a nap, but for now here's some of the changes you might care about:
- New site design.
- New site feature, customizable site preview images.
- Updated YTMND from XHTML strict to HTML5 (most of which validates!).
- Full rewrite of the YTMND loader/player, including an HTML5 interface when Flash isn't available.
- Drag-and-drop Uploading and a standalone asset uploader.
- All ads and tracking code have been changed to wait for the page to completely load before loading.
- I'll update this list later.
YTMND Preview Images
By default every YTMND uses a generated image for its "preview". You can change this in the site editor, and are allowed to either choose a default image, generated image, or upload your own image. Feel free to go back to your old YTMNDs and update them. If you read the earlier news posts, the iron fist is in effect. Uploading NSFW preview image is grounds for site and account deletions, this is not a joke. We will be watching site creation very carefully, so the chances you'll get a NSFW image on the front page are slim anyway. If moderators so much as see a nip slip on the front page though, expect your account and every account associated with it to be completely deleted.
You may be worried about old sites that were never marked NSFW and may have NSFW preview images, and rightly so.
I'm granting immunity to those of you with lots of sites for a week to allow you to edit your sites and set
them to NSFW. After this week if I go to your user profile and see NSFW images, you're getting deleted.
I'm available this week to batch update your sites if you want them all marked as NSFW or want them all
to have default preview images, just send me a private message.
