carol of the bells

seasons greetings pals
As I sit here just finishing my christmas eve dinner of spare ribs and chow mein, I felt the need to give you all a little update of what's been going on at YTMND headquarters.
It's been a long year, and I don't think I've accomplished as much as I would have liked. I hope to change that this year. The last few months have consumed me in a duty I am not only not very good at, but something that causes me to die a little each time I have to deal with it: advertising.
As the site grows in size and cost, advertising becomes more and more of a requirement in order to keep enough money coming in to pay the bills. I've been trying to manage this all on my own and honestly not doing very well, I should stick to programming.
Luckily, I signed up with Federated Media who will be representing all of YTMND's ad space. This means in the coming months as I slowly leave more and more up to them, I can get back to coding. I know the site is riddled with bugs, broken features and horrible abusive users.
I aim to change that, and my first order of business is to launch a new moderation setup which includes a couple hundred new moderaters. I will go into this more in a future post, so if you send me a private message asking me to be a moderator, I'm going to delete you.
Anyway, that's all I have to say for the time being. Stay safe this xmas/new years. I'll be back in the new year to make a fresh start of YTMND.

I try not to concern myself with Wolfson. I thought the prank was funny, so when you ask me whether the prank was funny, I'm going to have to answer that it was. I also think it's funny that Wolfson obsesses over a website that has repeatedly banned him and makes fun of him, and funnier still that we turn him into a ytmnd celebrity for his habit of social retardation. As for the gimmicks, I think they're kind of funny. I mean, none of my sites are over 4, so who cares how low they go?

Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, The OC Season One (sooooo good, shut up fgts), Waiting for Guffman, The Sweetest Thing, Drop Dead Gorgeous... just thought I'd suggest some good movies that boys will not have heard of but girls love, also saying you have seen these movies will make you seem sensitive and secure in your masculinity. Protip: watch Mean Girls.
Any user A that has been here longer than 6 months, with 5 or more sites over 3.5(?) stars, can give 1 "rep" point to each user B they like, and each rep point increases the power of B's votes. 100 points make B's votes 100x stronger (or 10x if we're going logarithmic). The rep point assignments would take the form of the "favorite users" list some have wanted; as long as user A meets the rep-giving requirements, A's fav-users list will mean something. That's the system I'm thinking of. Or something.
Have we seen Mean Girls?! Uhh...boobs. My off-the-top-of-my-head 5: Bring It On (best of its kind, with Clueless a quick second), Dark City (not perfect but damn smarter than the Matrix mess), Two-Lane Blacktop (one of the best road movies ever), Grizzly Man (though Fitzcarraldo is my favorite of his I might some day get eaten by a bear for the hell of it), and Weekend (by Godard; if you've seen it and like it, then my sense of humor prolly makes sense to you).
i looked at that caricature ytmnd again today and think i nearly vomited. thats a 4.7? of course, fad comp with mediocre drawings (still better than your average teen drawings, at best theyre "high school impressive" thus big with the kiddies) and of course, set to videogame music for no good reason whatsoever, which is getting really f*cking annoying. cant think of what to put with your ytmnd? videogame music! garbage ytmnd for preteens. bah.
Anyone who actually gives a sh*t about ratings is teh laaaaaaaaaaaaame (Jim Kerry face), but it would be nice to block new gimmick *ssh*les, I aslo hate when they become gimmick upvoters out of fear I mean, srsly, be a part of the community or not, fgt. I do not need your cookie or whatever, I'd rather play fair, except for BTape, who is a legit user and upvotes sites he LIKES, not every piece of crizzap in sight. And when gimmicks make good sites it's killer. But they get baleted and jerks live on
i think the only reason i give a sh*t about its rating is that somehow overall YTMNDers decided sh*tty headshots with absolutely no theme and no related music is better than 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 of all YTMNDs. it tells me that YTMND isnt the cutting edge place i thought it was when i joined, that the lowest common denominator here is much lower now than i'd like it to be. i cant change that, i just dont like it.
and nutnics, let me say that theres a difference between that guys and yours. you had people coming back as you colored it, made a GOOD drawing with more individual style and character where they interacted with each other. and the videogame music was remixed into something new at least.. that caricature one is a cheap as hell substitute.
"Does a user getting deleted even delete the votes and comments made by that account?
I still see votes and comments for users who have been deleted" - good question, but consider that when you delete your vote on someone elses site, your old vote still shows, so therefore deleted users and votes would still show...?
He headbutted me too, but as far as tards go, he was a genius. And Reh Dogg (as he's known in "the streets" AND the shower), well, he's just a guy. He doesn't strike me as the slightest bit retarded. Just bad at music. And delusional. After American Idol, is there anyone left who isn't? But bonus points for the shower scene. That puts him at "sophisticated 4th grader". And, OK, the random clip of the go carts...that was nice.
