So, today I visit YTMND for the first time in a decade. I say to myself, let's see what kind of sites people make these days. I almost click the top YTMND in Up and Coming, but then notice this Tra-La-La-based YTMND at #3. <br /><br />Pairing LAW with Tra-La-La is not only absolute genius but I feel like I have time traveled to 2006. This is such a great feeling that I make a fresh account to give this YTMND 5 stars, only to discover it's made by DarthWang. Darth, I have no idea why you are still on this site making YTMND mashups of 15 year old memes, but I salute you.

At that point, I forgot that real human tragedy and deep trauma behind the account names and keyboards always drives even the most obnoxious behaviors. I mean, really, can you possibly imagine the scale of abject pathos necessary to be DarthWang? or Uncircumcised? or that barely sentient idiot from Michigan that swooped into shitposting on ytmnd via a dozen+ alt accounts like an army of Trekkies attacking a truckload of Funyuns? Thing is, Wang, evidenced by the fact that he is STILL HERE 15 years later, doing exactly the same thing every single day, proves that he simply cannot help himself. He is just that broken. Same with so many of the personalities that shit up this site for all those years. And as awful as so many of the trolls here were--and, apparently, still are, ffs!--staring into that abyss, it became clear that the abyss stares back. I regularly crossed the line into being exactly as destructive as those that were ruining this place. And you caught a lot of my [subsequent] hypocrisy, as I resorted to my own base instincts and cruelty, taking twisted pleasure in wrecking the experiences of those wrecking the experiences of others. I shouldn't have done that, for many reasons, not the least of which is that it was some basic bitch shit. I come armed with much more ammo than madDogSoldier could ever fathom. Prairiedogeric10, as obnoxious and obsequious as he was, was still just a [dumb] kid. Whatever high ideals I started with when I began to mock the idiots, intending--albeit unproductively--to drive shitty users away, I eventually capitulated to the idiocy myself. The only way to out-troll a troll is to be an even bigger asshole, which is precisely why the more effective method to rid a community of its trolls is to instead ignore them 100%. But I got addicted to that same dopamine rush driving the rest of the armies of mediocrity stomping all over this place. For that, gr33nscr33n was a failed project.

There is a lot of important stuff written on these bathroom walls of the internet. A lot of important memories. Even if someone made a fancier, more modern version of the app, without the database, without the content, you'd lose those memories. You'd lose some crazy fad-lover's magnum opus, ya know?<br /><br />I don't know max that well. I asked him to play D&D with me once and he sounded ambivalent.<br /><br />But I'll tell max on Discord that I'd like to write a social media app in Laravel 10. If he wants he can be in charge of the project. If he's not interested, I'll just make it for the fun of it. And I'll post it to GitHub with the MIT license and anyone can check it out and use what parts they like. But if max lets me know the structure of ytmnd's database, I will base the data models on that structure so hopefully he could just import his database into it. I don't know where max stores his image files and stuff. I'll write the app to store them in AWS S3.<br /><br />There are other content-sharing sites, sure. But I don't know of any that have as many famery-gais and darthwangs. I just want a place for us to have a group to post jokes to.<br /><br />And I will say this, if I make another site, or if max made me boss of ytmnd, I would label things better so there's less uncovered NSFW stuff. But I will chill out about moon crew. If some moon dude wants to make sites, I won't ban them. Hate cannot drive out hate.
