That explains it! I would always get pissed off when people left TVs on but there was no input. This happened all the time at school. I would come in and be like "Why is the TV on?" and the Teacher woudl argue that it wasnt on. I also complained that my dad left the TV on when he went to bed. None of these people could hear that noise. I thought I was crazy.
22, heard it albeit it's not really annoying. Here's something fun to try. If you have a cathode ray tube television or monitor (the ones with a really large back to them) unplug them and plug them in, and see if you hear a difference. You should, and you probably won't even realize it's been there. Cathode ray tube displays use 70% of their power keeping themselves warm, the reason being so when you turn them on they light up faster.
