Well, you recall incorrectly. The belief that Jews killed Jesus was created and taught by early Church Fathers, and has little to no basis in Scripture. In addition, it has zero basis in history, as do many Bible myths. The term "Christ" is an ethnocentric one btw, and has about as much meaning as calling Bacchus "Christ." The myth of Jesus is no more a "Christ" than the myth of Bacchus.
