Being anti-Semitic is a form of racism toward Jews. Jews are an ethnic group, but Judaism is the religion. Many ethnic Jews are highly critical of Judaism, and many semi-religious Jews (like Reform) are critical of the more strict branches of Judaism. That isn't the type of thing I was referring to when I mentioned anti-Semitism.
Good investigation. However, in one part your remarks seem to imply that all people who follow Islam are backwards in culture. (Women being lesser, for example) Yes, the Quran can be interpreted that way, but not everyone does. Religion is what many people use as a basis for their own spiritual well-being. Most people do not blindly follow the instructions of their institution, and it is not for us to judge those who do. (Unless, of course, they become extremists and hurt others, that's the terrorism.)

This is unlike Sharia, which is the rule in Islamic countries rather than the exception. Ali - I'm Jewish, I'm not a Christian. I'm well aware of Christianity's presence, and Hitler's Christianity, in Nazi Germany. It doesn't change the fact that tens of millions of women are being oppressed this very minute due to Islam. Why is everyone tiptoe-ing around Muslims all the time in fear of invoking violence. The more people that roll over for them the worse the whole situation will get. I fail to understand why they can claim racism when they are forced to have security checks in airports. If all terrorists appear to be Muslim it's most logical to check them out first. As people, Muslims are very friendly, but knowing that there's only radicalism from Muslims you'd have to think that the religion is the cause.

People are more afraid of violence than they are of giving up civil liberties and the right to be critical of religion. Much like people were afraid to be critical of the church throughout the Middle Ages and up until very recently due to being branded a heretic and executed, people are afraid to be critical of Islam becaus they will be branded an infidel and become a target.
Ali - Are you aware that Muslims supported Hitler during WW2? The Palestinian Nazi Party formed during that time period and the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Husseini visited Eichmann and actually oversaw the execution of Jews in gas chambers. Ali - I think I pointed out that Muslim Arabs were in fact involved in WW2. The post-Ottoman Turks (Muslims) were allied with Germany, not the Allies, during WW2. Likewise, political parties in the Arab world formed in support of the Nazi regime, such as the Palestinian Nazi Party. Husseini tried to build gas chambers in the Middle East.

However, today most Christians could be defined as 'moderate' compared to how they were 10 centuries ago, such as a separation of church and state. Islam hasn't made that type of progress. Most Islamic nations have no separation of church and state and broadly apply Islamic law that is really quite extreme.

The original topic of the YTMND was the fact that people tiptoe around Islam and are afraid to parody it due to social stigmas resulting from threats of Islamic extremism. Ali, you're attempting to defend Islam by shifting the blame. Its not going to work. Blaming Christianity for the Holocaust doesn't change the fact that people are being killed and women are being oppressed due to Sharia this very minute. So please, give it a rest. Your red herring tactics and wild internet extremism shames Islam more.
When its an extremist, why do people try to dissociate them with the religion? Such as saying "extremist individuals." But when they are moderates, they suddenly become "Muslims" or "Christians." The fact is, the extremists are just as much a part of Islam, if not moreso, than the moderates. And religion, any religion, just like any philosophy or belief system, can and does cause extremism in many cases.
True "Islam", the belief itself, has never killed anyone. A Qur'an has never jumped off the shelf and beat someone to death. But the philosophy has directly resulted in people killing. Its like its technically true to say Nazi political philosophies have never killed anyone. The beliefs themselves didnt, they just directly caused millions of deaths. Its the same thing, only a semantic issue.

Though for the record, there is legitimate criticism of Zionism and then there is anti-Semitism disguised as anti-Zionism. When Martin Luther King Jr. made his address at Harvard and responded to a question with that comment, the young man appeared to King as veiling his anti-Semitism as anti-Zionism. Well, Zionism doesn't equal Judaism. However, Judaism is the religion, Jewish is the ethnicity. Israel is a Jewish state and Zionism is a Jewish philosophy. People often disguise their anti-Semitism, which clearly isn't PC, in a more PC veil of anti-Zionism. Not all anti-Zionism is anti-Semitic, but some certainly is. And Israel and Zionism provide a convienent outlet for anti-Semites to express themselves without being outright labeled as such.
Accusations of anti-Semitism can be used that way, yes. But it doesn't happen as much as the anti-Semites would like to paint. People who are notoriously anti-Semitic like David Duke (leader of the KKK) and Noam Chomsky (a Jewish anarchist and extremist on the far left) have tried to excuse their anti-Semitism by saying "They're just calling me anti-Semitic because I criticize Israel and they want to silence me." I havn't once actually seen a notable person attempt to do such a thing...
