Suggestion: Have the sounds play in both channels, but balance the volumes of either channel appropriately such that the sound appears to come from a position closer to the center of the screen (as Tourette's Guy's head). That is, when Tourette's says something, the left channel plays faintly, while the right channel plays more strongly, but both add to the original 100% volume when combined.
