"If there's one thing existentialism (especially sartre) has taught us, it's
that no matter what pressures surround us, the responsibility of every one
of our choices belong to us, and only us. Heidegger was a nazi and it was
his choice alone."
Sounds like someone doesn't know the hardships of living in a police state, or having their resolve be overwhelmed by any sort of extrinsic pressures for that matter. To say otherwise is to say that man is in one respect, i.e. willpower an infinite creature is pure
... nonsense as it is one of man's (and every other entity's for that matter) nature to be finite in every respect. Thus our willpower can be overwhelmed and therefore we cannot always be held accountable for our actions. If you want to know what Existentialism in the Heideggeran has to say on these matters, look into notions of Hermeneutics and Historical Dasein.
Well now that I really think about it, for someone to be as educated as you are making yourself out to be, I find it difficult to understand how you can't be versed in this era's common usage of the word "f*g" as a common derivative term labeled to people who cause one annoyance and incite hate. It's as if you believe the site is geared towards an attack on homosexuality.
Especially when you upvote and support a site that can be considered blatantly racist and stereotypical in the strictest sense. But then again, it's set to punch-out music, it must be all right. So I dunno, unless you're actually a practicing racist or a klan member or anything of the sort, I'd like to highlight the hypocrisy here.
There's a difference between laughing at a racist joke and using a slur pertaining to homosexuality as a genuine insult. Hell, I laugh at gay jokes too, but I do so insofar as they are jokes and not actual barbs in the way that referring to someone as "f*g" seems to indicate. No hypocrisy here, just fine nuance.
