I'm sick and tired of people making stupid *ss comments like this without having any knowledge or doing any research. Linkin Park started out as a small LA-based band named Xero, with Mark Wakefield as the lead vocalist. Later on Mark left the band, and they did auditions to find a new lead singer and they picked Chester Bennington, the current singer for the band. They renamed themselves Hybrid Theory and released their EP album in 1999.

After being denied 3 times, the band finally were given a recording contract by Warner Music Group. They later had to change their name after finding out another group had already taken the name Hybrid Theory. They named themselves Lincoln Park after driving past an actual park named Lincoln Park. But when registering for a URL, www.lincolnpark.com was already taken. They then changed the letters around to try and find a way around it, and ended up getting www.linkinpark.com

Contrary to all the stories made by various magazines and web sites trying to discredit Linkin Park by making accusations such as, "Linkin Park were put together like a boy band" or "Linkin Park has ghost writers who write all their songs" they are a real band who started out just like any other band, and they do in fact write their own songs. And as for this actual YTMND itself, I believe Minutes To Midnight is a way better, more artistic album than their previous efforts.

Even though I love their old albums and still listen to them to this day, Minutes To Midnight is in an entirely different league and is a lot better sounding, more artistically crafted, and more pure and raw sounding which I think is a lot better sounding than the distorted power chords of their past albums. It was great for its time, but I would be extremely disappointed if they didn't try something new for the new album, and thankfully they decided to explore and try new things.
