For anyone to claim there absolutely is no creator takes just as much faith, and belief in miracles as to believe in a creator. At least with a creator of some sort there can exist a supernatural explanation for how matter could miraculously come together in the most unlikely fashion to form a protein which is the the building block of life.
you reply to an actual analogy and point with preaching, proselytizing and sarcasm. It has nothing to do with pride. I am a tiny speck in a vast universe. From my position its the religious who are full of arrogant pride, that they are that imporant and that wise that in the short time humans have existed they figured everything out. I am an atheist about man made religions, and an agnostic in regards to anything beyond that. If you think you actually have a good argument beyond 'turn or burn', come to Ironchariots.org and test your mettle.
Lol I don't argue about religion. religion is a matter of the heart. I will be happy to argue on the basis on weather or not it is likely that the universe was created in some shape or form, or if it just spontaneously started to exist. But if you wish to argue religion, science plays absolutely no role. If you wish to have a heart to heart discussion, then I will talk religion with you :P
i'll talk religion to pretty much anyone in pm (barring a sh*tload of requests that is), but i will not take preaching, and i will always end it if the person i'm talking to will ignore my main points or if i have to repeat the same points over and over. and i wont cross far over into political issues since that complicates matters.
I HATE that bullsh*t probability argument. Nobody ever said we just all of a sudden flew together. very simple self replicating molecules came about in a way sort of like that, and gradually became more complicated. The real mystery is the question of why molecules and atoms act the way they do, and where did the rules that govern there actions come from. At this point we don't know, but just saying god is kind of a half-assed approach.
This is why the subject of religion should not be brought up on YTMND. It's supposed to be a humor site and that's it. There are so many different beliefs out there. As much as I'd like to, it would be impossible for me to convince everyone to believe what I believe. I was raised as a Lutheran and I will hold onto my beliefs for the rest of my life. The Bible and the Left Behind books have helped me greatly. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs. I just hate seeing arguments on a site created for laughs
"Sitsu, this site says there is no god. It doesn't mention Jesus." - your point? first off the context of the actual Carlin bit is in relation to man made religion. secondly I hear christians talk about God all the time without mentioning Jesus in the same breath, it doesnt mean they're not talking about the Christian God. special pleading.
