Collective Soul is named after a line from The Fountainhead. The character Howard Roark uses the phrase in a monologue attacking the "2nd-hand" nature of imitation, mimicry, and out-right style stealing of collectivist art and architectural practices. If you listen closely (ironically or purposely, I'm not sure which) this song is basically a rewrite of the Smashing Pumpkins' song "Drown".
