The Cake Is A Lie was written on the walls in Portal in "hidden" places.
Essentially, Portal is a game where you go through deadly puzzles, with the motivation to do said puzzles being "There will be cake at the end".
Instead, at the end you nearly get burned to death, though you manage to escape, and the blow the crap out of the computer that tried to kill you, since it lied to you about there being cake.
