The sponsored section is mostly worthless. If it was funny it wouldn't need to be sponsored. The recently created section is full of spam or mediocrity (my sites can be found here). The top viewed/rated sections are full of sites I saw a week ago. The featured user section is an art classroom. If a featured user does make something funny, it'll end up in the U&C. Therefore the only section worth browsing is the U&C. Therefore being pink is meaningless.

I for one can attest that being featured does not mean "instant front screen success." My sites only stay above a 3.5 because I have 37 accounts to upvote them with. I may wear the pink uniform of the ytmnd upper crust but I'm the ytmnd equivalent of Bill Hicks' and Miranda July's aborted love child.

I view success in terms of number of views, not avg site rating. I would rather have a million people see a site I made and have a 3 rating than have 8 people view it and have a 5 rating.

If only we had some democratic way of letting the "majority" decide what they like. Perhaps a system where each user can vote on each site, with each vote counting equally. And then maybe a section of the front page which displays these highly rated sites. Nah, too much to hope for.

Better yet, let's just go back to the way it was in 2004. No character limits, multiple accounts for everyone, no featured sites or sponsorships, no rules or order of any sort, and the sites randomly not displaying images and sound. I miss that.
