Really a non-news story that the media likes making a big deal out of since they hate words like freedom. The PANYNJ had named it 1WTC a loooong time ago (1WTC LLC - this is even on the steel beams); it's just that the first private tenant leasing the building made them make it public. Freedom Tower is still a name of Tower 1 and 1WTC is the official/street name. For example, the PA never called the old 1 and 2WTC the twin towers, but it was also their name.
The LMDC no longer exists... or at least they don't stick themselves where they don't belong like a few years ago. The only part of the WTC that is a mess is WTC Tower 5 because of the red tape of the city and 130 Liberty St still being there. T4 will be above the street by the end of the year and will be rising faster than t1, and t3/t4 above the street in 2010 so by 2010/2011 100% of the slow, hard work will be done. The terrorists have only paved the way for better icons.
