Great choice for #1. I think that's the only one I saw, except maybe for jimmm's. Lastimero posted that site at such a bad time when Osama bin Laden was a hot topic, so I'm glad he got the top recognition.

Did anyone win the Hivemind Award?

Actually, if I were to award the Hivemind award, it would go to pubby8 for "The Battle of Britain". Thematically, he came the closest to what I had in mind.

SPOILER: [spoil]My idea was to edit Rooney into the opening sequence of Saving Private Ryan, when the American forces are storming the beaches of Normandy. I was going to use the "Rebel Base" music and put a little helmet on him and have do the tumble after he gets shot. [/spoil]

You know, I actually had a third Rooney site in the works that is very similar to this. I had planned on using the music, too.

Here it (finally) is, in a slightly modified version:

i gotta say, even though i thought this contest was kinda lame, it really turned out nice. it's been the nicest thing i've seen on ytmnd in quite some time. hee hee. lets do another "OK GUYS HAHA LET"S ALL EDIT THE ______ GIF CONTEST."

also, this site's level of sincerity made me kinda squirm. no offense. next time try and be meaner?

I think YTMND needs at needs at least one earnest-to-the-point-of-cloying user, just to balance out all of the trolls and jaded, bitchy users.

I think this is the best run "non-official" contest I've ever seen here, and the quality of the entries was very polished. I feel bad for being down on it when it was announced.

I vote for the your one Gordon, the break dance one.

Thanks for the contest Gordon, it had a good run.

Incidentally you didn't "get" my site simply because there wasn't anything to get. Originally I was going to paste him rolling after the Flanders flock in their Geo, while Rod and Todd cried and exclaimed that he was "gaining on us".

Sadly it would have been a real feat to do it; the clouds kept moving in the background, making a loop impossible without heavy edits, which I would already need to do to cut Homer out of the background. So instead I found an exploitable 'road' gif, and turned the whole affair into a video game.

I was watching an episode of "Danger Mouse" of all things and the music in this site showed up ... how long has this "Match of the Day" program used this as their theme?

I think since it's been broadcast.

Actually, I checked and there was a different one from like 1964-70, then they started using this one.
