The Ring would take Gandalf and the eagles. Imagine a giant eagle flying away with the Ring. Then its over. Besides I dont think they were able to fly in over Mordor while Saurons darkness corrupted the land. After all the eagles are animals and creatures of light. Also flying Nazgûls would be a problem. Still funny.
