Description: The first of hopefully many educational YTMNDs. The lofty poet Virgil guides Dante through the Nine Circles of the Inferno. I resisted the urge to modify Dante's work by adding a Tenth Circle for the internet. Purgatorio (http://purgatorio.ytmnd.com),

Anyone who downvotes this should be banished to Cocytus.
2006-01-20 19:26:13

Interesting...
2006-01-20 19:26:13

That was pretty damn cool
2006-01-20 19:27:41

That was odd. How's it a comedy? o_O
2006-01-20 19:28:26

i swear i saw you Broke my Life in that forest. favoreal
2006-01-20 19:31:01

A comedy in the classical sense follows the protagonist's progress from a bad condition to a good one.
2006-01-20 19:43:40

amazing. i love it. this ytmnd is in a class of its own.
2006-01-20 19:44:54

beautiful pictures, classic literature. destined to be downvoted to hell though
2006-01-20 19:45:15

Brilliant! Teach these kids the classics!
2006-01-20 19:47:35

Sequel? Please?

Classic
2006-01-20 19:52:58

Not just classic, but classy.
2006-01-20 19:53:45

I remember our teacher reading that book like a maniac to us, literally screaming the words
2006-01-20 19:54:20

Dude wtf? When I come to ytmnd I come to be entertained not educated. If it's not pr0n, then it's not ytmnd. Also cocks.

2006-01-20 19:57:26

Well done.
2006-01-20 20:00:09

Excellent work. I always 5 serious yet still well-made and respectful YTMNDs. That's my rule. I can see a fad out of this even..Will be seeing Paradise Lost or maybe some of Homer's works soon? Porbably not.
2006-01-20 20:04:54

I'm glad this thing's getting such good scores. YTMND isn't just a haven for the mentally challenged, it seems. Also cocks, indeed.
2006-01-20 20:05:58

man i watched the whole thing expecting brian peppers at the end in the 10th circle
2006-01-20 20:06:56

"A comedy in the classical sense follows the protagonist's progress from a bad condition to a good one." Ah, I see.
2006-01-20 20:07:01

5 for not being a screamer, 5 for being based on a classic work, 5 for general excellence.
2006-01-20 20:07:40

Dude wtf? When I come to ytmnd I come to be entertained not educated. If it's not pr0n, then it's not ytmnd. Also cocks.

Beautiful, Original, Flawless, and Superb. Very nicely done. Fived. You win. Good Day sir.
2006-01-20 20:08:58

for daring to be different.
2006-01-20 20:09:58

Wow... gorgeous artwork, plus effort this deserves a top spot
2006-01-20 20:11:29

I'll give you an extra star for being a little more literate than most users, but literacy aside, how is this any different from running clips of Family Guy? You didn't repurpose anything or add your own twist.
2006-01-20 20:11:40

Best YTMND ever. Divine Comedy = Instant 10/5
2006-01-20 20:12:43

beautiful! I love Dante´s Divine Comedy and this truly expresses it!
2006-01-20 20:13:21

Good. Though wasn't he called Satan when he was banished from heaven and lost the right to the name Lucifer, that he had as an archangel, for having such overwhelming pride to incite a revolt. Also, Mammon.
2006-01-20 20:16:36

^ Dante calls him Lucifer, though Milton makes the distinction you have observed.
2006-01-20 20:16:52

wow thats great stuff 5'd
2006-01-20 20:17:54

i didnt laugh
2006-01-20 20:17:57

me likey.
2006-01-20 20:17:58

i almost expected you to have eric bauman in the 8th circle, that would have been awesome.
2006-01-20 20:18:07

actually... satan/devil -very different from Lucifer in biblical terms...
2006-01-20 20:19:36

Will someone please use a longer Moonlight Sonata loop?
2006-01-20 20:20:01

Holy sh*t, this is the best thing ever.
2006-01-20 20:20:17

Nothing's really creative here. If you had used Sandow Birk's Divine Comedy, that would have been something.
2006-01-20 20:21:42

5'ed for being very intriguing. The first ytmnd of its kinds, I do hope to see more of this in the future.
2006-01-20 20:21:53

f-ing long, but I must give you a 5 for creating the first successful educational ytmnd, excluding for www.retardpsp.ytmnd.
2006-01-20 20:21:55

Gorgeous artwork..
2006-01-20 20:22:20

W007.
2006-01-20 20:23:06

^^excuse my grammar... typo ("exculding for" should not have "for" in there)
2006-01-20 20:23:35

Good book, but I don't come to YTMND for that.
2006-01-20 20:23:52

I didn't see the funny, but 5'd for the beauty of the pictures, and the song which mixed marvelously with it. Oh, and homeboy592: Die.
2006-01-20 20:24:22

Well...it's beautiful, passionate and extremely deep. Many users of ytmnd may not appreciate it since there isn't any real "humor" but great work nonetheless.
2006-01-20 20:28:49

Intelligent and instructional. Neat!
2006-01-20 20:29:57

This is more a flash slideshow than a traditional ytmnd, but it has merit.
2006-01-20 20:30:21

nicely done, i appreciate the effort.
2006-01-20 20:32:21

I was expecting "its Jesus, LOL" at the end. 5 for not putting it there.
2006-01-20 20:32:33

umm whats the point of this? i mean this is YTMND we're talking about not classic scholars weekly. you should have put in a tenth circle for the internet then it might have actually been funny. also, as your keywords say, dongs.
2006-01-20 20:32:54

The 5 here is for the amazing artwork.
2006-01-20 20:32:59

5 for introducing something truly brand new to ytmnd.
2006-01-20 20:33:25

2006-01-20 20:34:01

Religous crap.. Wake up.
2006-01-20 20:35:28

I came. You really should add a tenth one as a payoff though.
2006-01-20 20:54:49

5 for educational merit and doing something that is very different from what we usually see aorund here. And the fact that this is being upvoted gives me faith in humanity.
2006-01-20 21:53:07

I watched this four times without stopping. Is this a book? What's it called?
2006-01-20 22:33:28

Yes, and Dante's Inferno, respectively. Continued in Purgatorio and Paradiso. I'm guessing such YTMNDs will follow.
2006-01-20 23:58:37

Very nice.
2006-01-21 01:30:18

"Religous crap.. Wake up." What's wrong with religion?
2006-01-21 01:30:57

Man, I was almost POSITIVE this would be a sabotage...very creative though, but the sound is far too repetive and unfitting. Still 5'd for originality.
2006-01-21 02:10:17

You win. Also cocks.
2006-01-21 05:52:17

Defentely a work of art. nice work putting this together monsterparty
2006-01-21 13:57:46

funny not delivered 1/5
2006-01-21 16:00:27

I predict someone make a fad of this by posting SF author Larry Niven's version of the Inferno
2006-01-21 16:01:28

I predict someone *will* make a fad of it
2006-01-21 16:25:58

oh yeah, total fad starter, i'm betting we see purgatorio next
2006-01-21 16:47:41

Uh, well...nice lithographs. I half expected a joke, but nice. I suggest providing links to the text for futher reading by the interested.
2006-01-21 17:35:01

Wow, I was expecting some sort of retarded gag at the end. Way to make art on YTMND.
2006-01-21 17:37:19

Oh, and all you f*ggotty downvoters posting crap like "HURRRR WHARS TAH PR0N" should be thankful there's no circle in hell reserved for the god damned stupid.
2006-01-21 18:30:23

Flesh out Moonlight Sonata to the whole song and it's a 5. Otherwise, good job.
2006-01-22 03:21:45

Nice, where did you get the pictures from?
2006-01-22 15:08:02

I hope you're planning on doing Purgatorio and Paradisio next.
2006-01-22 21:02:32

Purgatorio: http://purgatorio.ytmnd.com
2006-01-22 21:54:53

rofl dongs
2006-01-22 22:02:21

As much as I love The Divine Comedy, you're missing the point of YTMND. There is absolutely no way you could educate the masses who come here. People come to this site to laugh, not learn. Sorry. :[
2006-01-22 22:19:01

This is the first YTMND I've 5'd that didn't make me laugh. It would get six stars if it could for that fact.
2006-01-23 00:23:55

-1 for using the cheap shortcut to Moonlight Sonata. use the full piece and u get a 5.
2006-01-23 01:07:46

Maybe you should do the crusades, or the bible next. Love your work!
2006-01-23 01:45:18

Nel mezzo del camin di nostra vita// mi ritro vai per una selva oscurra// que la diritta era smarita.
2006-01-23 14:28:02

ah hell, i can't 4 a site that I have a guest appearance in (third circle w/ the gluttons)...5'd.
2006-01-23 22:51:39

@_@ Wow..... well, okay, I'll credit you for your literacy... this almost leaves me curious as to how these people turned into those of Devil May Cry.
2006-01-23 22:54:59

Sorry but someone had to mention DMC when something involves Dante and Virgil.
2006-01-24 15:14:52

Awesome... But why "comedy"? I didn't laugh once.
2006-01-24 16:38:53

lame. go read a book
2006-01-24 16:53:15

^ If you had paid attention, you would have seen that there is a place in hell for hypocrites.
2006-01-25 01:41:06

I was waiting for "YTMND" to be right after Lucifer
2006-01-25 13:51:39

Perfect. I love it. Complete and total class.
2006-01-26 02:11:58

Bravo.
2006-01-27 03:31:48

You have made me complete, thank you good soul.
2006-01-30 14:17:14

People who don't get this are stupid as sh*t, and should be send straight to hell.
2006-03-01 00:21:10

I've always f*cking hated that story...
2006-03-01 09:24:58

^ Don't kid yourself, you've never read a book.
2006-04-02 17:28:50

Gustav Dore is a favorite of mine, plus, I love the Divine Comedy. The fact you made a ytmnd about it is just awesome :) I agree, we need more of these
2006-05-25 15:54:33

one of my favorite ytmnds of all time
2006-06-10 21:56:34

FANTASTIC! Unfortunately, there will be a new circle in hell for LARGE CAPITAL LETTERS, but I'm getting these out there before that one's finalized. OUTSTANDING!
2006-06-19 15:09:23

Go Dante
2006-06-21 23:14:37

Thanks again for giving me a taste of the Divine Comedy. Again, I want to read it.
2006-06-24 10:47:46

5 for divine comedy. Modest Proposal plzkthx.
2006-06-24 21:09:08

Awesome
2006-06-25 23:41:08

Very interesting. I'll admit, while I've heard plenty about the Diving Comedy, I've never actually read it myself. This is the last thing I'd expect on this site, but good job nonetheless.
2006-06-27 11:17:33

classic literature's nice and all, but I agree with inkdrinker. all it is is some pictures to music.
2006-07-01 00:39:19

Amazing. We need more of these types of YTMNDs.
2006-07-02 05:42:23

You have a good idea and to be honest, I think it would be sort of good if a fad spawned from this. Oh and Silver-Ace, this thing is referenced in tons of things including: DMC, Doom, A disney comic, Full metal Alchemist, FF IV, Castlevania (Well duh..) Heck there was even a line in Pirates of the Carribean about it...
2006-07-06 06:42:00

That's really rad. I love this ytmnd. Seriously ^^
2006-07-08 08:39:16

Never have I expected an NEDM this much, nor have I been so pleased not to find one.
2006-07-09 20:04:00

oh god. i clicked to make a comment about how rad this was a poo[mater gave me a headache with his ignorance. nevermind. 5'd
2006-07-09 20:05:28

*pooMaster damnit
2006-07-11 01:11:23

Wonderful.
2006-07-12 20:40:27

They don't wear cloths in hell, do they?
2006-07-12 23:04:15

LONG, but the illustrations were cool as hell (no pun intended).
2006-07-12 23:10:44

I love it! Great artwork esp.
2006-07-12 23:15:47
