2006-03-27 00:33:53

that's quite a stretch, in fact I'd say this was likely a hoax.
2006-03-27 00:34:48

You f*cking ruined Sonic 3...and it came out in the USA on my 10th birthday, February 2nd, 1994. :( I should 1 you! ...bah, fine. 3.

+5 for interesting stuff -2 for redundancy
2006-03-27 01:18:12

How exactly did this ruin someones aspect of Sonic 3? If this ruined it, you didn't have a stable perception of it in the first place. 5'd I'll check youtube.
2006-03-27 01:22:54

sonic fondles children ftw

2006-03-27 01:44:03

Went to Digg and dugg it
2006-03-27 01:50:32

This YTMND doesn't need to be rated,
2006-03-27 01:51:52

Yeah, I think it's stretching it a little too hard.

ok who cares
2006-03-27 02:04:46

ah dude. i loved sonic music
2006-03-27 02:06:15

Interesting. I am not a michael jackson fan but I thought the ice level music was some of the best music on the sega genesis. That along with the music from comix zone and skitchin'.
2006-03-27 02:06:19

seriously, i almost killed myself for having to watch that. Now, do you like having a death over your conscience? If you don't, then get this off the top 15

not funny
2006-03-27 02:09:27

Does anyone have a link where I could download the ice level music? I want that on my mp3 player! >=D
2006-03-27 02:11:28

Holy crap. I heard about it before, and I can hear it in the "go's" of Launch Base and the "Hey, c'mon!" of the Sonic 3 Act 1 badnik... but, holy crap. I never knew Carnival Night and Icecap were involved...
2006-03-27 02:23:44

so? I looked at your link. Watched the video. Who the f*ck cares? So he did a f*ckin' sonic III song or two... and your point is?
-1
2006-03-27 02:29:17

Haha, whoever did this wasted a lot of time. There's absolutely no point.
2006-03-27 02:29:59

hahahha
2006-03-27 02:31:47

Fascinating... A couple of those actually sound plausible. Also, there's no point asking these retarded bastards not to vote on it. :D
2006-03-27 02:32:49

Just kidding. I love you guys. Seriously though, he said not to vote on it...

icecap zone sounds nothing like that sh*t, the chords go down on icecap whereas the same two chords repeat on the jackson sh*t.

2006-03-27 04:26:38

if you knew anything about music i might vote.

2006-03-27 04:39:12

This thing does need to be rated since it seems to be in the top 15, and that needs to end. Who the f*ck gives a sh*t about this? Get over your Michael Jackson obsession, you're way too old for him.

2006-03-27 05:54:34

Actually it wouldn't surprise me if the Japanese simply "altered" the tunes. They are in love with MJ. Look at Space Channel 5
2006-03-27 05:59:06

i don't get it. they sound nothing alike.
2006-03-27 06:34:33

I'm sorry, but if you don't want this YTMND to be rated, WHY IS IT A YTMND? There are other ways to spread a link around, dude.
2006-03-27 06:37:39

meh. it's no secret that MJ is a Sega fanboy
2006-03-27 06:38:35

Actually, those replaced tunes you were talking about were in the PC version. Not talking about a ROM, but a Sonic collection released for the PC that had Sonic 3. The last 3 stages had the music replaced.
2006-03-27 06:44:01

I knew there was a reason I liked that Sonic music so much as a kid...
2006-03-27 06:53:53

Knuckles' theme (along with the mid-boss theme) in Sonic 3 also seems to be based off of MJ (There's even the MJ "ahh" and "c'mon" in the mid-boss theme, IIRC).
2006-03-27 07:24:34

THAT'S NO GOOD
2006-03-27 07:34:24

Intriguing.

Barely a resemblence

2006-03-27 08:51:43

how is this crap funny again?
2006-03-27 08:54:29

lol, I was watching that episode of Robot Chicken where the white and black micheal jackson were fighting. And the kid shot um both.
2006-03-27 08:56:09

Made by MJ or not, the Sonic games on the genesis have always had great music..
2006-03-27 08:57:49

You're the man NOW, Hedgehog!
2006-03-27 08:58:40

ok they sound nothing alike
2006-03-27 09:01:10

Interesting.
2006-03-27 09:05:41

Sonic music is amazing, period. and as a music theory major, I can say that the chords and themes are very close. This is a plausible theory- watch the YouTube.
2006-03-27 09:08:23

To all you f*cking idiots who are giving this a 1- Jackson was slated to compose the music for Sonic 3, but Sega dropped him because of the scandals surrounding him at the time. Look it up some time.
2006-03-27 09:09:30

i disagree.
2006-03-27 09:09:58

BTW- You Tube is NOT the first outlet to report this

I can't understand what he talking in the video.

2006-03-27 09:26:03

i know you didnt want it to be voted but this is just to even out the morons who vote a 1 without knowing the background of the jackson vs sega contracts (aka ignorant dumbasses on this site)
2006-03-27 09:34:30

unconvinced
2006-03-27 09:35:42

I can see the first song being similar, but everything else is too much of a stretch probably based on that one coincidence
2006-03-27 09:43:42

what.. the.. f*ck?
2006-03-27 09:48:06

You sir are 1'd, you stole the music clip from www.sonic-cult.org. It's been known for AGES that Sonic 3 music had resembled Michel Jackson music as well.

Wasted my time listning to this twice. They sound nothing alike.
2006-03-27 10:23:09

This is a serious stretch AT BEST. Now, go back to listening to your rap that constantly rips off metal.
2006-03-27 10:27:53

that was dumb.
2006-03-27 10:30:19

1'd for saying Sonic music is like MJ's music.
2006-03-27 10:40:33

Sure, except none of those songs sound anything alike.
2006-03-27 10:44:26

that was pretty friggin gay -- sorry... but like everyone else said... who cares?
2006-03-27 10:45:14

From what I heard, MJ was contractually hired to compose the entire soundtrack to Sonic 3, but they decided to scrap most of it for some reason. The most blatant examples are Launch Base and the boss theme (minus Knuckles add-on.) However, Ice Cap and Car
2006-03-27 10:48:46

MJ is a god if he composed the Ice Cap music.
2006-03-27 10:50:48

First one was a very close match. The others don't sound too similar.
2006-03-27 10:58:06

I voted, f*cker.
2006-03-27 11:00:16

A ytmnd that "doesn't need to be rated" = 1 star without even waiting for it to load.
2006-03-27 11:05:07

http://elecmanbestremix.ytmnd.com/ Not spamming, just thought this would be worth mentioning since it relates to this.
2006-03-27 11:07:07

You saved me $20. I was going to buy the Mega Collection but instead am just going to get the ROMs of all these games, as MJ's music > the music they replaced it with. Well-deserved #1 of YTMND.
2006-03-27 11:07:44

They don't sound alike to me, besides were it true (which I doubt), what difference would it make?
2006-03-27 11:10:14

i'm high as f*ck and trying to get this, but i can hardly see any resemblence. that first song resemblence is SO far off it's not evne worth rousing suspicion. i'm going to play sonic3 in emulator and see if i can find any of this sh*t.
2006-03-27 11:11:45

WATCH THE VIDEO BEFORE SAYING THE SONGS DONT MATCH. Even if MJ was not involved they are surprisingly similar
2006-03-27 11:12:37

"if it true (which I doubt), what difference would it make?" -- it would just be cool to know that some producer behind those pop songs got their inspiration from a _relatively_ obscure japanese videogame soundtrack. esp for those who grew up on those ga
2006-03-27 11:14:00

Hmm. The second pair of songs was the only pair that convinced me. interesting nonetheless. 4'd
2006-03-27 11:14:48

never mind, i'm watching the video and i got the story all wrong. interesting so far.. go to the youtube.com link in his description

I don't understand the people who say "who cares?" Seriously, who the f*ck "cares" about Anything on ytmnd? Thanks for the insite, parrothead, it was interesting. :)
2006-03-27 11:21:52

To all you rebellious 5'ers calling us idiots, I DON'T CARE how true it is. It just doesn't need to be a YTMND. Even the creator of the site admits it. He can just post the link wherever he wants, there's no reason to make a YTMND out of it. I'm not e
2006-03-27 11:23:07

I'm not exactly going to lobby protest, but I am going to give this a 1. Not so terrible in the grand scheme of things.
2006-03-27 11:27:53

So f*cking lame it's hard to believe
2006-03-27 11:41:10

Yes Michael Jackson did make all the original music, but he later got dropped from the project when accused of child molestation, so they modified all his submissions.
2006-03-27 11:42:00

Why does this need to be a YTMND? Because |1.| To catch your attention, and |2.| This is a short version of the video.

2008-06-20 16:32:36

|3.| YTMND isn't just about making funny webpages, it's also about making other kinds of things, like documentary pages.
2006-03-27 11:42:52

lamer then a free c*nt on a tuesday
2006-03-27 11:45:46

Sonic 3 is hand down my favorite game of all time. But the narrator sounds like he was exposed to nerve gas. 5'd anyway.
2006-03-27 11:48:42

doesn't really sound the same
2006-03-27 11:50:07

Well -- 16 bit systems could only produce so much music. Not suprising that they would sound similar.
2006-03-27 11:52:50

Mildly amusing.
2006-03-27 11:53:25

" Why does this need to be a YTMND? Because |1.| To catch your attention, and |2.| This is a short version of the video." That doesn't make any sense.
2006-03-27 11:53:46

as your lawer i advise you to sue!!!!!!!!!!!!
2006-03-27 11:55:33

I mean, if this were about proof of UFOs or something, then yes, it could be necessary to post it absolutely everywhere, including making a sub-par YTMND about it. But it's just not. The message isn't nearly important enough to justify this.
2006-03-27 12:06:23

"2006-03-27 01:18:12 Igloopatrol 5 stars How exactly did this ruin someones aspect of Sonic 3? If this ruined it, you didn't have a stable perception of it in the first place." Someone couldn't tell I was kidding about it being ruined :-)
2006-03-27 12:17:00

So if Sonic says to Amy Rose in Sonic X "Amy, are you ok"...call I call "Micheal Jackson" on it?
2006-03-27 12:29:54

umm, sorry, bad ytmnd, doesn't deserve top 15, 1'd! :z
2006-03-27 12:32:49

This really isn't ytmnd-quality...But I expect this to become a fad in no time.
2006-03-27 12:38:09

This is earth shattering news, we should all be greatful you brought it to our attention.
2006-03-27 12:38:23

plz report to ytmnd headquarters for training. you fail.
2006-03-27 12:41:25

The video's cool, but this is a useless YTMND.

2006-03-27 14:47:10

As i posted earlier down, THIS IS NOT AT ALL SIMILAR, for instance icecap Goes C Bb G# G and Kiddie fiddler jacksons goes A G A G A G A G get it right.

The fact you can layer icecap over A and G constantly repeating isnt anything special, i could play any sh*t over that.

MJ should always do Sonic´s music from now on
2006-03-27 15:20:43

I remember some of that sonic music. :) Though I hardly think that they sound alike tbh.
2006-03-27 15:35:33

ive always thought that factory zone in sonic 2 was a michael jackson song., dont remember the name of it but you had to run on screws to move up and there were these bugs that thrwe they're claws at you, looked like that alien from the brak show.
2006-03-27 15:40:30

holy sh*t.
2006-03-27 15:48:58

I remember hearing music in the original sonic that sounded like MJ's work too
2006-03-27 15:59:55

2006-03-27 16:05:30

2006-03-27 16:49:16

2006-03-27 17:02:34

WTFour'd.
2006-03-27 17:10:28

I've known about this for maybe 1 week or more now and I still can't get over this, I meant to get around to making this ytmnd, but good show, you beat me to the punch! 5
2006-03-27 17:25:59

also to state this, the music has not been replaced in the Mega Collection for console, if that was the case I would have sold it, if ever I bought it
2006-03-27 17:30:45

Did you find this from UK:R?
2006-03-27 17:31:12

2006-03-27 17:58:52

There are definitely similarities. You can hear it in the "Who Is It?" clip. Good find. 5.
2006-03-27 18:02:38

Play them over each other, it would seem better
2006-03-27 18:04:03

Wow, normally I try not to give 1's, but this is just lame.
2006-03-27 18:06:27

Oh my, I loved that game.
2006-03-27 18:37:15

A) This guy has the WORST fake british accent I've ever heard in my entire life B) Oh my god 1 second of each song sounds similar they must be clones C) Who gives a sh*t about something from 10 years ago
2006-03-27 18:52:07

Look around you f*g, then realise what s' covered on half of this site.
2006-03-27 18:54:38

Kinda interesting.
2006-03-27 18:55:16

apparently people fail to realize that when Sonic was made, Michael Jackson wasn't considered a creepy f*ggot pedo.
2006-03-27 19:18:59

3 because I found it intersting because I'm getting into music theory.
2006-03-27 19:19:11

I vote 5 because too many are voting 1
2006-03-27 19:27:18

5, but I still can't hear the similarity between the credits and Stranger in Moscow. Maybe it's because the latter is too slow.
2006-03-27 19:27:27

So what maybe the music director of the Sonic series liked Micheal Jackson's music.
2006-03-27 19:30:03

I don't hear it.
2006-03-27 19:32:47

horrible
2006-03-27 19:36:03

It's like a fishing lure for children!
2006-03-27 19:43:20

All of the "suspicious" songs are only on the Genesis version.. and I think they were done by an American artist. The rest of the soundtrack is a completely different style. The original version with the original music is available for the PC version.
2006-03-27 19:44:20

i dig
2006-03-27 19:47:36

Adverb - The holocaust was over 60 years ago, so who cares?
2006-03-27 20:06:24

2006-03-27 20:20:28

2006-03-27 20:26:43

2006-03-27 20:27:21

2006-03-27 20:46:50

Sonic the hedgehog is f*cking gay.
2006-03-27 20:50:57

2006-03-27 20:51:00

2006-03-27 20:56:26

Interesting & entertaining...
2006-03-27 20:58:56

2006-03-27 21:06:43

this has blown my mind
2006-03-27 21:07:18

Pretty similar, other than the melody, chord progression, instrumentation, and rhythm.
2006-03-27 21:12:38

I don't hear it much... Too much time on your hands.
2006-03-27 21:15:48

ur a mean BI*Ch
2006-03-27 21:16:10

Nice little vid
2006-03-27 21:16:10

A stretch.
2006-03-27 21:28:56

That's just crazy, man. I would never have guessed. That Ice theme one was pretty good.
2006-03-27 21:31:02

It dosent really sound like sonic 3 music mostly, only a very few select parts.
2006-03-27 21:34:20

Reading comments is really telling of how goddamn stupid the majority of this community is. It was really interesting. The fact that someone that big worked on a videogame soundtrack back then is pretty amazing.
2006-03-27 21:37:07

I personally like the fact that such major musicians have enough time to produce game soundtracks, even if they were strange.
2006-03-27 21:37:32

4, since the Ice Cap one is a MASSIVE strech, though the Carnival night one is obvious. The oncafter Carnival is there, but it's subtle. However, one could chalck the whole thing up to the power of sugestion
2006-03-27 21:41:29

Welcome to a couple of years ago. This was discovered long ago.
2006-03-27 22:03:06

One of the producers for some of sonic's music has indeed produced for michael jackson in the past apparently..Not surprising
2006-03-27 22:06:11

Hey guys. I made the documentary for zealous sonic fans, not the mainstream. I guess posting it on YouTube was a bad idea :P Still nice to see *some* of you enjoyed it at least. I don't think it's really YTMND material though... Also Adverb, I'm actually
2006-03-27 22:07:55

Ah YTMND cut off my post, I was going to say I'm actually british, it's not a fake accent XD And no I haven't been exposed to nerve gas either ;)
2006-03-27 22:08:07

modified it to a 5, very intriguing
2006-03-27 22:15:26

never frickin noticed that
2006-03-27 22:21:57

The songs don't sound that similar, and if you believe Michael Jackson wrote the Sonic soundtrack your on crack. Anyways 2 for being boring.

2006-03-27 23:13:01

2006-03-27 23:13:16
