hmmm...you have a gap in your research. moheevi created nedm.ytmnd and started using it everywhere. awesomebob then made his "nedm is coming" site which stratos saw and then he viewed http://kj23dfh238uf.ytmnd.com/ (one of a few moheevi sites w/ NEDM in it). that happycat gif then became the "NEDM image." it was used in stratos's site and then staronion saw it...etc...etc.

NEDM is not condoning burning kittens, it's not a dark fad it's a response to voting by a user who voted merely because of a vote on another ytmnd. also the user dved (1'd) all of spotz's sites originally.

Those first NEDM sites contained no cats. They were "NEDM is coming" sites, celebrating just the acronym, not the cat, chapstick, whatever. the rest unfolded organically and has been very easy to trace for weeks, if anyone ever bothered to read descriptions/comments carefully. I'll give you a 5 for presentation and research.

Well, still as mentioned this was very informative. But NEDM is still the sh*ttiest fad YTMND has ever had, thus I'll 1 anything that even includes them... excluding this one due to it's helpful content.

okay this explains a lot but i remember seeing this 1 when i fisrt came to ytmnd. I had herd of a video that i thought this was that some kids at school were talking ablout about a year before this came out. I remember seeing the complaint thread on the forums but i thought it had been up for awhile. I dont understand what chapstick has to do with anything though.

Good explanation. I hope this stays on top for a while so people can know the story behind this. The cat suffered a really miserable death. I won't judge those who find it entertaining, but the actions taken by the people who burned the cat are quite sickening and only makes me remember how primitively barbaric the human race can be. I have the video, I've seen it, out of uncontrolable curiosity. It was sad, very sad. I'm glad those guys eventually got caught.
