People take religion WAY too literally. And all beleifs that started with Judaism (christianity and islamic) are remarkably similar to that of even older myths and such. That series of mythology (yes, it counts as myth: look at the definition) is known as Ex-Nihlo where there is almost always one male god that creates everything and culture is based upon the fact that men are superior. Religious groups who take things literally should just drop the charade, and focus more on what its about (morals)
