Metroid and Kid Icarus both had games for the NES and Gameboy (and were created by the same guy, Gunpei Yokoi), but Super Metroid came on the SNES and catapulted the series into one of Metroid's premier franchies, while Kid Icarus languished into obscurity. I wouldn't have gotten the joke, either, without the "lol" bubble.

For those who don't know, Kid Icarus was the sister game to Metroid. Both were developed by Gunpei Yokoi, the graphics and sound are similar in each game (as is the gameplay), and both games featured a password system which allowed you to save your progress

The sound loop is bad...if the animation runs over 100 frames it's going to be hard to fix. But if you fix it, it's an auto 5. Great site.
