SMB 2 actually wasn't the original. The "real" SMB 2 was the first one, but much harder(Released only in japan, because they thought it was too hard for americans). They took another game, and the guy toad was based off of was indian, with a turban.

Batman's pose is better because the way he holds it is more suitable to Super Mario 2.
