I've never understood how when one side dies by the thousands for every US soldier killed, cumulating in an insignificant percentage of manpower, that is "asses handed to us". I've always thought that an utterly lopsided K/D ratio along with negligible damage to overall fighting capability isnt defeat in a military sense. Sorta like saying that the Greeks got their asses handed to them at Thermopile, except now only 4 greeks total have died rather than hundreds.

The thing is our soldiers lives actually mean something to us. They at least mean more to us than suicidal extremists care for their own lives. In that sense, they really don't lose anything when thousands dies. Also, its not like they run out of hopeless psychos that hate America. We've pretty much put their countries in hell, and it's really easy to blame the apparently most powerful country in the world for all your problems. So its hard to measure our success with a kill ratio.
