They do have places eh?
2006-09-11 18:19:58

2006-09-11 18:29:11

At least*
2006-09-11 18:30:20

Any geography book will tell you that. 1 for insulting Canada anyway. The people on this site already hate every other culture. This will just give them another excuse to rip on Canada.
2006-09-11 18:32:37

Better than American textbooks which show the world shaped as america with hawaii and alaska orbiting around it.
2006-09-11 18:33:02

No, no, it's not Canada's fault... it's educational theory that insists on textbook-writing-by-committee... no doubt what they INTENDED to say is that locations have coordinates, that every point on the globe can be accurately described by numbers, etc. ... but then they decided to put it differently for whatever reason, and it ended up as that asinine, insulting phrase. Next, I want to see a Physics textbook that says, "Matter is stuff and things."
2006-09-11 19:17:15

I think I had that textbook in like 5th grade...
2006-09-11 19:19:19

2006-09-11 19:32:27

Texas Edition has the same
2006-09-11 19:38:46

Modern geographers would scoff at this as a definition.
2006-09-11 19:41:43

Newly created Canadian government sanctioned textbooks are bad.
2006-09-11 19:42:44

2006-09-11 20:04:43

I don't think that this is funny... is a geographical fact. Every geography text must to have this... that is the obvius things that must to know when your are intoducing at some logos.
2006-09-11 20:10:12

im still guessing canada has a better public school system than the usa 5 for that
2006-09-11 20:14:59

Well, it's a lot better than an American history book.

2006-09-11 20:40:40

I used that very text book last year in grade 10 and I remember reading that in class and thinking holy sh*t this is a badly writen book skitzophreniq: This is quite real and is not photoshopped. Motu: sorry to disapoint you but this is a 10th grade book.
2006-09-11 20:42:30

4 stars for funny, -3 for Canada bashing. I think it evens out.
2006-09-11 20:46:06

1 stars for unfunny, end of statement. However, stop trying to pass off photoshops as real
2006-09-11 20:50:47

Yeah, I am really sure they dropped a san serif sentence right into a paragraph of serif text. At least try to match the g'damn font.
2006-09-11 20:52:55

yeaaa.. i would laugh if i werent canadian
2006-09-11 20:57:08

Not funny. A place killed my grandpa.
2006-09-11 20:57:37

If it's a shop, then someone's trying too hard. A similar statement is in my Geography textbook.
2006-09-11 21:02:26

They didn't cite me when they quoted me. WTF??!!!?
2006-09-11 21:06:48

I think my brain is about to explode from this insane amount of knowledge. 5!
2006-09-11 21:07:46

Damn Canadians.
2006-09-11 21:11:27

Pretty funny.
2006-09-11 21:22:06

It's not fake, I had this textbook last year for 10th Grade. There's a whole f*cking chapter on the Prairies.
2006-09-11 21:23:00

Hey, if it were an American schoolbook, it would be full of "alternative theories" like "Intelligent Placement".
2006-09-11 21:25:12

5ived
2006-09-11 21:26:14

"Place is a term that has a variety of meanings in a dictionary sense, but which is principally used in a geographic sense as a noun to denote location, though in a sense of a location identified with that which is located there." "Places have a location", Wikipedia style. Must be a Canadian wiki.
2006-09-11 21:29:38

photoshopped
2006-09-11 21:34:52

not photoshopped
2006-09-11 21:35:24

Heeelll yeah, places do have locations, and don't forget it!
2006-09-11 21:41:34

Oh, and not photoshopped. I had that one in grade 8.
2006-09-11 21:42:31

Places have a location? O RLY?
2006-09-11 21:43:12

photoshopped
2006-09-11 21:47:21

1'd for being stolen and breaking copyright on this textbook
2006-09-11 21:52:07

Funny; but really it has nothing to do with it being canadian, it's probably like a grade 3 book
2006-09-11 21:52:47

5'd for canada hate
2006-09-11 21:55:11

2'd - cause it's funny, but im canadian.
2006-09-11 21:56:58

LOL taken out of context, its funny!
2006-09-11 22:01:15

Great, but you neglected the other qualities of places which are equally amusing
2006-09-11 22:02:25

lol foolish canadians
2006-09-11 22:05:55

they think that because places have locations, that we want to understand that to get to the place of a place, we have to "travel" to a "location" to find the place where that location is situated (on a map) AMERICA>canada
2006-09-11 22:07:22

we pwn u canada, and dont say anything like "thats showin thos americans, eh?" OR WE INVADE UR ASS!
2006-09-11 22:08:31

not funny. Textbooks say stupid things all the time. So do Americans. "youre workin hard to put food on ur family"
2006-09-11 22:11:08

F*ck nationalism, go International! United planet'yo
2006-09-11 22:11:10

Halloa. Wow, I laughed my head off at this one. Very very nice. I like the music and the sarcasm. It is funny how textbooks state the obvious. However, just to clarify, there is a difference between "place" and "location". "place" is defined as the culture, vegetation, climate, geographic distribution, and economy of an area. Location is just its location on the globe. HOWEVER, NOTHING CAN EXCUSE THE LACK OF ANY INTELLEGENCE IN THESE TEXTBOOKS! My final word on this..............................................LOL
2006-09-11 22:13:01

Ah, gotta love the days of high school.
2006-09-11 22:17:34

oh good ol' geography text books. I remember acutally making fun of that line in class. Actually that entire page was f*cking stupid....
2006-09-11 22:18:57

Atleast Canada teaches geography. F*ck.
2006-09-11 22:19:27

haha, canada sucks.
2006-09-11 22:20:20

If I was that school, I'd want my money back for those books.
2006-09-11 22:23:27

2006-09-11 22:27:36

looks photoshopped, which makes it lame.
2006-09-11 22:31:56

Wtf? I had the exact same text book when I was in grade...8? Or was it 9? That means you're around 12 - 14 years old.
2006-09-11 22:36:39

2006-09-11 23:01:45

^prove it.
2006-09-11 23:04:16

O RLY
2006-09-11 23:05:04

LOL 5'd because I actually remembering using a textbook in that series in school
2006-09-11 23:05:42

OBJECTION!
2006-09-11 23:19:22

hmmmm... O RLY? Oh shi- am I starting to see a trend making fun of Canadians?
2006-09-11 23:28:39

Lol, the bullsh*t they fill textbooks up with to make them appear intimidating and to hide the important parts is hilarious.
2006-09-11 23:51:38

Candians from Canadia. Hail Stalin.
2006-09-11 23:52:17

1. I am Canadian. 2. The text looks photoshopped. Doesn't look like the same font... I smell photoshopped.
2006-09-12 00:12:14

"Matter is stuff and things." - that's actually a good starting definition
2006-09-12 00:13:46

The problem with most textbooks is the publisher's insistence to come out with a new edition every other year for subjects that rarely change.
2006-09-12 00:19:49

that is the logical conclusion. 5s all around!
2006-09-12 00:21:04

Geography is a class for retards anyway, I award you no points, and I feel we have all gotten dumber viewing this YTMND.
2006-09-12 00:22:37

"I don't think that this is funny... is a geographical fact. Every geography text must to have this... that is the obvius things that must to know when your are intoducing at some logos." Lern to speekum dee inglush.
2006-09-12 00:26:23

tomahawk missle?
2006-09-12 00:36:51

as a geography major, I'll just say that "location" and "place" means a somewhat different thing than what simpletons percieve them to be.
2006-09-12 01:45:07

Sh*t. I think I had that textbook.
2006-09-12 01:49:10

2006-09-12 10:47:23

2006-09-12 11:34:20

Photoshop, lol
2006-09-12 11:36:16

you forgot poland.
2006-09-12 11:44:02

eh. it's clearly a book aimed at younger students, like 3rd-4th grade, so of course it will be written like that.
2006-09-12 12:42:30

lol, canada eh?¿?
2006-09-12 13:06:18

"Places interact with other places." They certainly do not. If a place is in one place, how can it interact with a place in another place? That makes no sense.
2006-09-12 13:50:42

Haha, I have this textbook in my backpack, if anyone else has it, it's on page 94.
2006-09-12 13:52:20

It isnt photoshopped (except the red box.) in the book they made it bolder and a differnt colour, to make it stand out.
2006-09-12 14:20:07

Places have locations?!?! So everything I've ever known was a LIE?! NnnnnnnoooooOOOOOoooOOO!

2006-09-12 19:32:57

I love how books start off so amazing simplistic, then go nuts. My biology book starts off with: Biology is the study of life. But what is life? then you find youself confused about the finer points of DNA
2006-09-12 20:14:35

obviously photoshopped, but still funny
2006-09-12 20:22:11

I think I had that textbook in high school.
2006-09-12 20:27:18

Oh my GOD! I had to read that gay textbook in school and I remember that!
