Self add to favorites is hilarious. Self sponsorship is the original intention of the feature anyway. I say any sponsorship is awesome.

Normally I'd downvote this, but seeing as the message is sound I'll leave it alone. Also, mod favourites don't automatically get a $20 sponsorship, Max just sponsored all the sites that were in the mod favourites at Christmas last year (which is why anything from around Giraffes In The Air onwards doesn't have a sponsorship from him).

There's nothing wrong with self-sponsoring. In fact it even states that on the sponsorship page that a possible use of the sponsorship is getting your own site more visits. If you contribute money to YTMND you deserve to have your sites viewed. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just denying peoples charity.

It's kind of tacky the way it works, and it can be used to put ytmnd's the majority would downvote on the front page, but if it helps YTMND stay up I can't really be disgruntled over it. Self sponsorship is a perfectly good way to get your site on the front page and get it more views. It is also a perfect way to get a bunch of people to view your page, downvote it and insult you. The point of the voting system is to bring to light those ytmnds that people enjoy. If people don't enjoy it, then maybe it is better to fade into obscurity. The person submitting it is... not at all the right person to correct ones that slip through the cracks. Also, since Peterguy sponsors his own sites, it is automatically faux pas. Sponsoring own sites is an insult to the integrity of the democratic process. Also max donates to himself to promote the idea of donating... it's all about marketing...
