The mayans part of their empire may (or may not) have thought it was an honor to be sacrificed but the other tribes living in the jungle sure as hell didn't. Besides, its a movie. Not like any of the stuff in Gladiator, Braveheart or Saving Private Ryan ever gets bitched at for historical accuracy.

I beleive your thinking of the aztecs, they made offerings in huge numbers. the mayans didn't, and they weren't living in cities by the time the spanish arived. the mayans werent out there sending these death squads to round up people to kill.

funny thing about braveheart, he never mentions that the standard commonly used by the scottish was the same burning cross that modern day klansmen have emulated. Even the confederate flag comes from scottland.

This man actually thinks that our civilization is crumbling like theirs is because where not christian enough, and he launches these movies as a way to combat this. he says so himself that he compaires our cultire with that in his film. ready to be saved by christians such as himself.

basically he's using the same type of logic that right wing romans used when deciding that the lack of faith in the old pagan gods, and their subsequent replacement, with Cybele, Mithra, Judiesm, and Christianity would result in the breakdown of the roman civic ethic. In this politic if he were a roman, he'd be first in line to kill christians.
