Amazing. I like how you compared our sun with the largest star at the very end.

2007-03-29 13:24:22

it was actually our solar system. makes me wonder how accurate it is though, since he's a pluto forgetter. You fell for the trap
-2

2007-03-29 13:27:40

Didn't you 5 for forgetting pluto? Though I'm sure he didn't "forget" but rather left it out since it's no longer considered a planet...
-3
2007-03-29 13:21:41

:-( Pluto

canis majoris is the freakin MAN

2007-10-01 20:48:07

canis majoris wears the pants in the universe.
+1

2007-10-20 16:34:25

Yeah I did a little bit of research on Canis Majoris after watching this...it is nearing the end of its lifespan and we recently got pictures of its outbursts - as it dies, it flares out and goes ape sh*t like death rattles. It will eventually explode into a supernova.
2007-03-29 13:31:00

I want to see the relationship of pluto vs. that last star
2007-03-29 13:32:22

What's wrong with you people? This adds very little to the original size of our world. It just looks slightly fancier and there's no Pluto
-2

2007-03-29 13:36:20

pluto is no longer a planet
-2

2007-03-29 13:37:21

the original has "(not a planet)" next to Pluto

2007-03-29 13:41:00

ah, well it is a small aesthetic difference that doesn't really matter too much. And as I recall, this site does add a bit, because the original didn't have pictures of some of the bigger stars, but scaled some of the existing ones to fit their respective size.
-2

2007-03-29 15:03:06

its been done you dumb f*gs

2007-11-23 13:16:58

the original had ted danson in it too with "not a planet next to it as well"
2007-03-29 13:33:02

Interesting. But this barely registers on the "what does this have to do with anything" scale, and that is the YTMND version of the scale too ;)
2007-03-29 13:36:29

I think it's safe to say that the universe pwns all.

Very well done!!!!! If I have one complaint, its that theres no pluto (and I was teh first, sizeofoutworld.ytmnd.com) though that site sucks balls compared to this.

VY Canis Majoris' radius is almost 2100 solar radii, meaning that if our sun were replaced with it, its surface would envelop Jupiter. It's infathomably huge. Here's a good picture of our sun next to LBV 1806-20, 38 million times more luminous than our shrimpy little star. http://www.solstation.com/x-objects/1806-20b.jpg

2007-03-29 15:07:08

Well actually you forgot Poland... only kidding. I know it's been done before (hence the "special edition"), but that was a really good remake of it. Very informative.

Not sure why this needed to be made... again. However, lack of gimmicks was nice. One problem, though: No matter how big something else is, our world is the same size. People should get with the program and start calling these things "The Relative Size Of Our World".
-1
2007-03-29 16:01:34

I kept waiting for this to become a noise site because I thought no one would bother to make this site over again... but I guess you did, forgot pluto, fail.
