| If I wanted to kill you, and you took my guns away, I'd still f*cking kill you. I'd just use something else, like fire. | ||||||
| You know, the right to bear arms has little bearing on this shooting. Evil people do evil things, and evil people don't care about gun laws. The only people who respect gun laws are the well adjusted and law abiding citizens who deserve the right to bear arms. |

| well-adjusted people are hardly exempt from the ability to do evil things. Allowing liberal gun possession merely makes that potential all the easier to act out. |

| that's BS. Crime in countries that banned guns skyrocketed when guns were removed. It just makes the criminal more confident. (VTech had a campus gun ban, so Cho didn't have any resistance to fear. Coincidence?) |

| PirateSteve is right, crime generally goes up as gun-controls are invoked. Sure, SHOOTINGS drop, but the over-all crime rate goes way up. If you study international and foreign policy you learn something about Mutually Assured Destruction, and how it helped stave off nuclear war. The fact is, if everyone has a gun you'll think twice about trying to pull yours. And that is a FACT. | ||||||
| Actually it's a fact in every instance in the history of private firearms ownership that crime went up as guns were forcefully taken from law abiding citizens. Violent crime especially, take Austraila where they just went through a period of removing guns from society. Crime is up more than 8 times as much as before, and public officials don't have a clue why! | ||||||
| and people were SH*T-SCARED about Mutually-Assured Destruction. Not only that, we've come within razor's edge of destroying one another DESPITE MAD. And this was a situation that was only in play at the very top of the nations involved. I don't see myself getting any kind of reassurance having that situation play out among ALL citizens. It so nearly f*cked up before, there's nothing stopping it from f*cking it up here. |

| The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that's good.
-- George Washington
The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed.
--Alexander Hamilton, The Federalist Papers at 184-188
To preserve liberty it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.
-- Richard Henry Lee | ||||||
| wow, way to cite people who lived 200 years ago who, unlike today, were fighting open battles on US soil against the English with severe disadvantages of population and hence needed average joes to get muskets. And even then they couldn't get it done without the French's help. Fail. |

| I know punks like you can't handle freedom, so heres one that has nothing to do with war. Laws that forbid the carrying of arms…disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes…Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.
-- Thomas Jefferson, "Commonplace Book," 1774-1776,
quoting from On Crimes and Punishment, by cr | ||||||
| first off, caligo had BETTER be arguing against PROFUSE and excessive gun ownership, rather than gun ownership altogether, otherwise he's f*cking crazy. I understand the necessity to ban guns in certain areas, including hospitals, schools, and other places, but gun ownership is important. Some people have to defend themselves, and let's face it: if we got rid of EVERY gun in the world, right now, people would switch to knives and swords. Fire bombs. Should we ban gasoline because it is in Molotovs? | ||||||

| ironically, the people who argue that are rarely well-adjusted individuals. |

| I just copied someone elses text, can't take credit for writing that. | ||||||
| Well-adjusted is a very relative term. |
