I would say Aye; however, I believe that the original was made as it was because there IS no way to get the progress of an image being loaded. You can just know if it is done or isn't. Haven't looked into it myself though.

Well a solution could be to move everything into flash... and make this a youtube clone: motion pictures + audio + text = video! And then everything could be synced up, we never have any sync problems

This could increase the load on the server link. As it will have to make two simultaneous file transfers instead of two sequential ones for each YTMND site... So every time one makes an EPIC PACARD DOES A JAMAICAN BARREL ROLL 11 it could overload das link... I mean, that's why many download sites don't allow those download accelerators that make 8 simultaneous connections, amiright?
