The blue thing shows how recently a comment has been made. So.. if you make a comment your comment is blue. then it starts fading over time, and eventually it goes away and you just see the grey comment. Max was talking about this a while ago in some news update, strange how we are only seeing it now.

The first change I saw was that the voting diagrams became pie charts (a sucky change because now I can't read the voting pattern of people for which numbers end up overlapping: http://ytmnd.com/users/Punisher/votes for an example) Also the profiles have been revamped, which I enjoy, also comments page (again a good change), also comment coloring (good change). The plusses and minuses were there before, you can up or downvote comments.
