| well, forget the game manual - just fwd someone to this thread and *bam* you know the f*ckin' game | ||||||
| Rather than spending her last days with her kids, she spent them alone in a room playing a game spending hours getting frivolous gifts on a stupid game. Lots of parents spend hours at work working for money they don't really need "to provide a better life" for their kids, rather than providing a better life for their kids. When the disconnect between intent and reality is so wide, it is called neglect, not generosity. |
+1 | |||||
| She should've spent her remaining time playing WoW. |
+2 | |||||
| Korf, look up "multiple sclerosis" on wikipedia, then f*ck yourself and die. | ||||||
| I thought that people with multiple sclerosis were still human. It's a debilitating disease, not a dehumanizing disease. Ethics and morality still apply to sufferers of multiple sclerosis. You treating them as less-than-human is highly insulting, and I'm sure you do the same for any disabled person. Her case speaks to the superficiality of many societies, however, regardless of her medical situation. Just because you're dying sooner doesn't mean you should waste what you have left; in fact, the opposite. |
+8 | |||||
| korf41 + ytmnd = serious f*cking buisness, eh? |
+1 | |||||
| Did you watch the site? Come on now. Serious business is this stolen sobfest inducer. Break up the pity party and get back to reality. |
+5 | |||||
| "Morality is relative and worthless." - Korf41 |
+3 | |||||
| i think the thing is, korf, she couldn't really DO anything at all for her kids. im getting the feeling her kids were grown at this point and they were still living together because her quality of life would've sucked *ss without people around. since she was kind of bed ridden, and couldn't physically do anything with or for her kids, this was the next best thing | ||||||
| Morality is relative and worthless. That doesn't mean that people don't believe in it. Anyways, what she did is clearly unethical, and most non-amoral people would find it immoral. MS people that can play video games can spend time with their kids. As for your other speculation, it's speculation. Anyways, this was all a big farce, and a good one, but if this were a real person, it would be either a tale of tragic delusion or serious negligence. Either way, it's not generosity. |
+2 | |||||
| Morality is based on logic and reason. If you think morality is relative and worthless then your only method of making decisions and taking action would be EMO-tion. F*ggot. | ||||||
| Are you joking? Most people only believe that morality is POSSIBLE if passed down from an omnipotent Creator. That's called dogma, not reason. Morality is the concept that there are immutable "right" and "wrong". That's a silly concept. Some people develop their own morality based on something such as humanitarianism or some such ideal, but you can always make up your own so as to make you good and everyone else evil. Thus, vapidity. | ||||||
| Logic *is* immutable. And yeah there are immutable rights and wrongs. Every action can be seen from its consequences to be beneficial, destructive, or neutral to human life. So if someone likes diet coke over pepsi it's not a moral issue. But if they like killing random people and dancing in their flayed skin remains for S&G then guess what buddy, that is *universally evil*. Read moar Ayn Rand. |
-1 | |||||
| "Every action can be seen from its consequences to be beneficial, destructive, or neutral to human life." I certainly wouldn't agree with that, especially not to only one in isolation. I certainly would not agree that all moral systems must hold that something that is beneficial to human life is good, destructive bad, etc. In fact, just trying to wrap my head around the glaring inconsistencies of that idea is making my head hurt. Provide a logical proof and we'll talk, but YOU CAN'T. Kant can't, either. | ||||||
| "I certainly would not agree that all moral systems must hold that something that is beneficial to human life is good, destructive bad, etc." If human life is not the highest ideal in your moral beliefs then you are inherently destructive to others and self destructive, as when given a choice, you choose something else other than your own or your fellow human beings lives. Thus moral relativity just becomes an excuse to justify being a criminal. Screw Kant, read Rand. Srysly. |
-2 | |||||
| Korf, you're missing one big point in your rant. She stopped playing the game as her symptoms worsened. |
+1 | |||||
| "I DO NOT CARE IF SHE WAS IMMOBILE AND COULD BARELY TALK SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SPENDING TIME WITH HER FAMILY! NOT COOKING OR CLEANING OR TAKING SHOWERS OR ANYTHING AT ALL HOBBY WISE, JUST SHOVING HERSELF UP HER FAMILY'S ASSES, PERIOD! SHE DIDN'T I HOPE SHE DIES AND GOES TO HELL NOW!"-Korf. |
-1 | |||||
| "Korf, you're missing one big point in your rant. She stopped playing the game as her symptoms worsened." I don't see what that says. It's a fake story, but when her symptoms worsened she was in a less fit state t spend time with her family as she had just wasted the last healthy portion of her life on a video game. As for Randian guy, "Ayn Rand said it" is not a logical proof, and objectivism is a silly philosophy. Just because someone argues for a moral system doesn't make it the only one. |
-1 | |||||
| Korf, I don't really buy the story either. But you're also basing a lot of assumtion into what is really not explained. She can still spend time with her family and still obsess over the game. When you're wheel chair bound and kids have school or work there is a lot of free time during the day. There is also free time during the evening if kids are off doing other things. | ||||||
| That's a good point, although obsession was a poor use in the sentimentalized context if it is to be taken lightly. That the mom spent all that time getting in-game presents is entirely frivolous, though, and her time really could have been spent better on anything including watching paint dry. At least she'd have a unique experience to talk to her kids about. | ||||||
| Am I Kant or not? Taken from wikipedia: "A good will is one that acts from duty in accordance with the *universal moral law* that the autonomous human being freely gives itself. This law obliges one to treat humanity — understood as rational agency, and represented through oneself as well as others — as an end in itself rather than (merely) as means." - Emmanuel Kant
|
-2 | |||||
| I know that he believes in a universal moral law. It's just too bad that his arguments are poor and nobody else believes in him. Philosophy is not sophistry. Arguing something doesn't make it true. | ||||||
| Then what is truth and reality? Is electricity not real because I can't actually see electrons flowing through a wire? Is gravity not real because I can't actually experience it directly, only observe its effects on myself and things around me? If you truly know nothing then you cannot deduce anything and logic becomes meaningless. If *that* were true then humans wouldn't have walked on the moon much less figured out how to make fire. |
-3 | |||||
| You're really dumb and being really irrelevant. |
+1 | |||||
| Heh, nice logical comeback. I see where you are coming from, and I do respect your intelligence but I disagree, profoundly, with your world view. A lot of flaws in Kant's philosophy and some good ideas on answers to the problems he posed with his arguments can be found on this site http://www.importanceofphilosophy.com/ Check it out, or not. |

| damn. | ||||||
| a lot of controversy over this site. i'm sticking with "damn" because it evoked emotion. tub girl or not, anything that can get-wrench me up like that deserves a little something extra from me. it's not a stolen gif, IMO, the user cited a specific link and has stated that he is not the creator. no one rags on you guys when you f*cking straight copy a movie sequence (which you did not make) and loop it, or when you post the popular internet meme of the day and everyone on ytmnd thinks it's funny too. | ||||||
| it's just dumb to rag on this user who broke no protocol in submitting this. the user was obviously moved enough to share it with us, if you don't agree then suck the bloody corny sh*t right out of my *ssh*le. |
+2 | |||||
| "no one rags on you guys when you f*cking straight copy a movie sequence" ... of course I do. This site is supposed to be a creative outlet for its members, not an image dump. If you can't conjure up any creative energy, then go somewhere else and dump your images in the appropriate channels. If you're looking for "cool stuff from around the internet", there are plenty of websites for that. Posting this here is akin to going to 4chan for intelligent conversation or putting a toilet on the ceiling. |

| Tell your own stories. |
+3 | |||||
| what was the point of this? telling the depressing story of someone else? you shouldn't steal people's depressing stories.... |
-3 | |||||
| Some stories have to be told at YTMND, whether they're original or not. |
-2 | |||||
| would have 5'd it if it was your own....but it wasn't, so i feel like you are just copying someone elses stuff and making everyone at ytmnd depressed too.....why would you want that? |
-2 | |||||
| I'm glad you made this. |
+1 | |||||
|
+8 | ||||||
| Much of ytmnd content is rehashed from something else. While this isn't an original work it is something I haven't seen before and appreciate. As for depressing, the holocaust is something that is extremely depressing to study and learn about, but the benefits are that you can recognize what happened in the past to prevent it from happening in the future. That's a lot more important than being happy all the time. |

| It was said by Otto von Bismark, that "Only a fool learns from his own mistakes. The wise man learns from the mistakes of others". By learning of the experiences of others and their stories, no matter how painfull, we re-think and re-evaluate our own lives, hopefully making us wiser, stronger, and more capable of better choices and priorities in life. |

| how is this depressing? you're just f*gs, go slit |
-3 | |||||
| I'm not rating the story. The story is fine. I'm rating RySenkari's site, which is "A Story Stolen From The Internet." Don't let his title mislead you. If RySenkari were to post a poem by Robert Frost, would you go "5, good poem"? Rating content rather than rating a site's merit is stupid. If you want to post stolen content, post it on the forums where people won't rate it as your own or provide a link to it on the forums. The front page is for sites which are made by the sites' creators. |
+10 | |||||
| I'm glad this was made, too. Sometimes people's stories need help staying alive. |
-2 | |||||
| What about the fact that, not being a Korean Animal Crossing forum scanner, I wouldn't have seen this content. I wasn't gonna vote until Korf's illogical "content vs. site" argument. The dude admits it is not his own story, puts the sad Zanarkand music on it, and it's a sweet little thing. Who cares if it was posted elsewhere, this is the first place that most of YTMND has seen it, and it's muddafuggin heartwarming. 5. |
+1 | |||||
| What i wanna know is why someone with MS would reproduce. Also to they guy that says it needs to be brought here and all thats fine but it also needs to be sorted by being voted on and its stolen material and doesnt deserve to be up there with sites that people actually spent time making. | ||||||
| "The original message board post with the story at IGN no longer exists, and the site of the artist who drew this is in Korean. So the two original images are the closest I can get." Also, he stole this from 4chan, and who knows how many other places this has been posted. The point is: If you want stolen content, go to 4chan. YTMND is supposed to be a creative outlet, not an image dump. |
+5 | |||||
| save your breath korf, theres nothing we can do at this point. |
+3 | |||||
| While I do like Korf and agree with 90% of what he says. He does love to hear himself speak. |
+3 | |||||
| When sh*t like this gets popular and digged a thousand times, a thousand more RySenkaris come to this site and post stolen material with some stupid sentimental garbage and it will shoot to the top. Imagine that. You'll have nightmares, too, hank. And, no, I don't have nightmares and, no, I can't hear myself "speak" on ytmnd, and, no, I'm not typing in a vacuum. That someone is engaging in a conversation doesn't mean that they "just want to hear themselves speak." That's silly anti-intellectual propaganda. |
+4 | |||||
| First off, I did NOT get this from 4Chan, I got it from a topic posted at GameFAQs. I posted it in YTMND form in the hope that I would get a spot in the Up and Coming for an hour or two, and an eventual 3.9, 100 votes rating. I had NO idea it would take off like it did, and frankly, I don't care. I've read the comments that have been posted about it, and I'm glad I was able to touch the hearts of as many people as I did. If you think I'm all about posting sentimental crap on YTMND, |
-1 | |||||
| look at my site posting history. I've posted all kinds of stuff on YTMND. I meant no harm to YTMND, but I'm not about to give in to peer pressure and delete it. Call me whatever you want. |
-2 | |||||
| "I had NO idea it would take off like it did, and frankly, I don't care." "All I wanted was a high rating." Something is not jiving here. |
+1 | |||||
| No Korf, you like to hear yourself talk. | ||||||
| Does he say aloud what he types? | ||||||
| hank, you like to hear yourself talk about how i like to hear myself talk in order to feel better than me. Do you want to play this game? It's a stupid game, it goes nowhere, and we both end up looking like arrogant idiots. |
+3 | |||||
| Have a tough time grasping metaphors? Would it be better if I said he loves reading what he types because that sounds stupid to me? You've never met anyone who rattles on and on when everything that needed to be said was said within the first two sentences? When I read Korf's comments the sound of Frasier Crane enters my head. |
+1 | |||||
| When I read hanktherapper's comments the sound of Frasier Crane enters my head. (Actually, the sound of George W. Bush might be closer.) All you're opening up is a game of rubber and glue. Nobody is going to win. If you think I am expounding too much on a simple topic, whatever. I'm saying what I feel like saying and other people are reading it. If that's such a horrible thing then I guess I'm just going to have to live with myself. Your comments are mere mudslinging. |
+1 | |||||
| "First off, I did NOT get this from 4Chan, I got it from a topic posted at GameFAQs."
What's the difference?
| "'First off, I did NOT get this from 4Chan, I got it from a topic posted at GameFAQs.' What's the difference?"
4chan is full of filthy individuals. Gamefaqs just has stupid people.
Anyway, Regardless of where the source came from, I thought it was a great site. |
+2 | |||||
| "''First off, I did NOT get this from 4Chan, I got it from a topic posted at GameFAQs.' What's the difference?" 4chan is full of filthy individuals. Gamefaqs just has stupid people.' Yeah, I know, but the point is that it's stolen. Where he got it from doesn't really matter. |
-1 | |||||
| You know what happens. Somebody floats a rumor that causes you to ask a question. And that's the game in YTMND politics. Korf refuses to play it. That is a game, and you just fell for the trap and Korf refuses to play. |
+1 | |||||
| touching. completely. wow. | ||||||
| This... was so touching. It really surprised me how you managed to turn a game into something so emotional.
Anyone who ones has no heart or soul.
| That is a beautiful story. This is a beautiful YTMND. Whether digital or in real life, love for the world and our parents is somthing we can never let go of. my hats off to you good sir, an epic victory. *sniff* |
+2 | |||||

| Well this was a nice change of pace. Of course I'm too cool to cry *forces back tears*. I am now awaiting someone to take this and turn it into a fad or something. We'll have people throwing NEDM in there. People adding strobe lights and calling it a rave. The boy will be replaced with sonic and the mom with the Terminator. |
+3 | |||||
| No, a nice change of pace is when you're cuddling with your girlfriend and she suddenly goes down on you. |

| This is the worst thing to ever be popular on YTMND. I hated the "HOW SMALL IS OUR WORLD!?" site but at least that had some pictures of planets. This site is pure f*ggotry. And I never use the term "f*ggotry." |
+6 | |||||
| She should have spent less time playing video games and more time researching a cure. |

| I have news for you: Life sucks. If everyone posted every sad story they ever heard onto YTMND, well, I'm pretty sure you can imagine how awesome THAT would be. Sorry for being a douche about it, but thats just my opinion. |
-3 | |||||
| Sad sh*t is sad. Sad sh*t with a point is as meaningful as you care to make it. No ones life is perfect, some are very hard, but to say "life sucks" in general because it isn't all pizza and blowjobs... Well... What's your alternative? Posting "YOU BROKE MY LIFE!" and then blowing your brains out on myspace? Becoming another "an hero"? | ||||||

| F*CKING HILARIOUS. i'm glad we all remembered the point of ytmnd. |
+3 | |||||
| Haven't been to YTMND in over a year. Logged in to comment. Saw this on Digg. Saddest thing I have ever seen. I was about to go to sleep, but now I want to kill myself. | ||||||

| In all seriousness, there's an in-game mother for your character who periodically sends you these presents with generic messages attached to them. Whoever made this comic is hilariously mistaken. |
+15 | |||||
| OMG |
+5 | |||||
| can anyone else that played it confirm this? it deserves 5's for its hilarity if so |
+2 | |||||
| That is true, but it tells you if the game from "the mother" or another character. |
+1 | |||||
| Yeah, the message in-game has the character's image attached if it comes from another player. I think the author of the story would have known the difference. |
+1 | |||||
| If this is indeed true, the story takes on an even more interesting and "tragic" twist. Instead of these presents being from the mother and therefore acting as a comforting message after death, they represent empty wishes. Joke's on us? | ||||||
| Ultimately, one shouldn't feel too torn up after watching this because it reeks of fabrication. In the rare instance this isn't urban legend, I'm tired of the most personal parts of personal lives becoming viral internet sensations; this is the real tragedy. I'm flat out tired of viral internet sensations in general. | ||||||
| This will continue to get 5's and favorites along with comments like "OMG so sad best ytmnd ever it tuched my hart" But no one should feel guilty for downvoting. GB2 reading email forwards. More loling, less bawling. | ||||||
| |||||||
| It was really really sad, but how could she procreate being wheelchair bound, I mean isn't that a bit of a stretch. I'm gonna call shenanigans, but 5 for being super emotional. | ||||||
| ;_; THAT'S SO SAD!! | ||||||
| I cried |
-1 | |||||
| This shook me to the very core. |
-1 | |||||
| Honestly if you cant 5 this you deserve to be shot in the knees and drowned in acid |

| NO U | ||||||
| Stop making me cry, internets. | ||||||
| I could so see my mom doing this. She was into The Sims (the first one), though. |
+1 | |||||
| o wow so lovely thank you | ||||||
| ugh. |
+6 | |||||
| It gets a 4 because its around the holidays and it matches well with the theme. It makes you think. If in the past your parents have done something bad, not horrible, just bad and you see them thanksgiving you should say hi because when they are dead your missed your chance. And it doesn't have to be from a dehabilitating disease, any sort of random accident could strike and kill them, just as well you. |
-3 | |||||
| "you should say hi" !!!... |
+4 | |||||
| if your too stupid to know what i meant, suicide might be a viable option. |
-3 | |||||
| You wrote, for the entire Internet to see, that "you should say hi" if you see your parents over Thanksgiving, and now you're getting uppity and calling me stupid? That's rich. |
+6 | |||||
| i thought this was going to be able sable and nook's super sad backstory but i was knocked thusly for a loop | ||||||
| Dude, if your Mom really died, why the hell would you try to tell her story as a YTMND??? Only a crackhead loser would come to ytmnd and look for sympathy for the story about the worlds smallest violin.
The only thing anyone with sound mind could do is laugh at your laugh at your poor attempt for sympathy and regard this whole charade as a decent and respectable attempt for 5 stars on YTMND. I'll give you 4 |

| A quick glance at the Image Origin would tell you that the image was taken from a different source. How so many people are missing that is beyond me. |
