How? This still would have been in up and coming regardless of whether or not I was featured. Being featured had nothing to do with the site's rating. I've made plenty of sites below 4. This is a reflection of the types of expectations of the majority of users found on ytmnd, more than anything. It shows that most come here for a cheap laugh, and they don't mind a site as dumb as nails as long as its amusing to them. That being said, I hope original creative content is rewarded more than this.

In general, I do think there is a problem with the featured user section, because there is a lot of crap being made, and it takes the space of more deserving sites, and that's why there should be a worthwhile section with a threshold of around 4.0-4.4 instead.

There are much better examples I assure you.

What can I say? Uncle phil is a popular fad. If I used brian peppers it wouldn't have been rated so high. And I didn't think this would either. The only thing you usually get out of being a featured users is more views thats pretty much it. Look at bob the builder's crap lately. Do you see it on up and coming? Oh Umfuld. I remember when you were never on this silly crusade against sites you didn't like, and that Umfuld was a better user in general. I don't care about ratings. How many times do I have to reiterate this? Just because you don't like a site doesn't mean it has an ill-gotten rating. But that one site, that gay unfunny video game one from a few months ago, I seen when that was posted and it got like 12 5s in less time than it took to watch it through. Whether by your efforts or not your sites are overrated. And your featured status - along with most - is the reason top viewed sites get about 1/3 the views they were getting before the pre-featured gayness. Not saying it was your idea or anything - but just saying your sites more or less suck and featuring users like you - no matter your avg. score is failing. 18 of today's Top 30 Viewed are featured. There's only one problem with your observation. I don't just vote on every ytmnd I see. I usually vote on up and coming stuff only and sometimes the featured user section. That's why you see me vote 5s usually. If I voted on every ytmnd I saw, I would go crazy with boredom. Yes there are revenge downvoters, and shameless upvoters, but I think you are overstating their significance. The majority of users don't form relationships with other users so they don't have grudges, and they don't blindly upvote their friends either. These are the guys who only visit the site maybe once or twice a week. I think there aren't enough abusers to make or break a site...well I guess there are exceptions. Like if you kiss everyone's *ss then you probably get a nice boost or something.

That's a good point lol, I always forget about the people who mass downvote your sites. That doesn't happen very often though. That does indeed suck.

ytmnd users can be so pathetic sometimes. But still, this is not going to change much. Only alt downvoting can really hurt your sites. And there isn't a lot of people like this, otherwise only new users would have sites in up and coming as everything else would be downvoted out of spite.
