| yeah, that's gonna be a good one. But Jelly Roll Morton is next on deck. | ||||||
| I also remember the song from a Simpsons episode, the one where Mr. Burns and Grandpa are both trying to woo Marge's mom. |

| What about middle class and rich black people? | ||||||
| They preferred scones. |
+1 | |||||
| According to you or Goodman? |
+1 | |||||
| biscotti |
-1 | |||||
| Oh, the irony. | ||||||
| That's my hypothesis. Goodman had nothing bad to say about scones or middle upper class blacks. Those were the only ones he'd hire. |

| Sh*t. I replied to the wrong one. |
+1 | |||||
| Sorry to disappoint you, but this is actually pretty funny. |

| Yup. | ||||||
| Who's (grand)daddy is in the bottom row with the sax and the "jumpin' joint" grin on his face? |

| I guess, being diabetic and all, Benny Goodman had to give up all of his favorite foods cold turkey. | ||||||

| this song is amazing | ||||||
| Actually, Benny Goodman was credited with helping bring down barriers that limited Black Jazz Musicians. It is very disingenuous to imply he was a racist when he was helping to end it. |
+2 | |||||
| he's cookiest, not racist |

| A THOUSAND CHIPS DELICIOUS!! | ||||||
| we're also playing Sing, Sing, Sing for the Jazz Band at my school this year. | ||||||
| Wow you suck at Jazz history, It was Louis Prima that composed Sing, Sing Sing, Not goodman
Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Prima | ||||||
| He may have written it, but Goodman was the first to record it, and the song was a staple of his band. You can look that up. I got my information from a textbook. Jazz: An American Journey by Brian Harker. There is a wiki for it that backs me up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sing_Sing_Sing
If I were you, I'd actually do some real research before spitting out some info you found on wikipedia. |

| Benny Goodman also wrote "Body and Soul," which is a standard for anybody learning jazz. |
+1 | |||||
| It is still a fact that it is not his tune though. About the same as saying saying "Maynard Ferguson's Coconut Champagne" even though it was completely composed by Denis Di Blasio. Given credit where due. Sorry I went a little overboard there, it just bugs me when music is completely credited to the performer and not the composer themselves. | ||||||
| Many composers aren't given credit for their songs. There was a good number of Ellington's songs that were written by Billy Strayhorn. Charlie Parker's "Donna Lee" was actually written by Miles Davis, but he never got credit for it. But I can understand your objections. | ||||||
| the IU Marching Hundred duz it bettar | ||||||
| There is N*gg*r only food, there is a river by my house that has a overpass that blacks always fish from. They always eat the fish nobody else wants to eat because they are so dumb so black and so poor. | ||||||
| great story | ||||||
| 1 For Zionism. | ||||||

| Another fact: Benny Goodman was considered in the Jazz realm what "Nickelback" is perceived as in the Rock genre today |

| nothing like glorifying hate and elitism through sarcastic irony and witty comebacks to instill insatiable repeal from a diverse crowd in the afternoon. I'll take the fish sandwich instead. | ||||||
| I give up. | ||||||
| cookies are for poor black people, if the black people are poor, how can they afford cookies? YOUR LOGIC IS FLAWED | ||||||
| Why don't they ever tell you this important stuff while in pursuit of a music degree? Lousy standards | ||||||
