I realize I am probably going to get down voted for this but, I don't get it. What else does scrounger mean besides someone who is good at looking for things? Why would Panthro not be proud of being good at looking for things?

Well, James Garner was a "scrounger" in The Great Escape, and it was a bit disreputable but vital to the plan. However, default 4 for Thundercats.

The common definition I gather from "scrounger" is being able to get items or other intangible things together in ways others might not be capable of for use in a practical way. Now if that's finding a cart part buried in the dirt or stealing an old lady's medicine money, who knows. I'd call MacGyver a scrounger for sure.
