It's not meant to be "cool," dickfore. I thought the image was impressive, and decided to set it to a tune that a fairly large amount of people could recognize. "Art" tends to be much more evocative when people can identify with at least part, if not the whole, of the subject matter. If you don't like this site, at least dislike it because you can't identify with the beauty I found in the desolation of it all, not because of where the sound comes from or because it doesn't contain some inane [fad] sh*t.
I hate to tell you, but, the songs in the game are MIDI format... sounds differ based on what you virtual synth you process them through. This was done with the General MIDI synthesizer, and it does sound markedly different from something like the S-YXG70.
