Most jobs like that track your sales per call and expect you to sell 33% of the calls you make (or some obscene number like that).
So when you work in a job like that, you WANT to make your calls as long as humanly possible, so a handful of sales gets you through the day.
Plus, when I was selling shit, I LOVED those kinds of calls. They're a break in the monotony... and I trolled the shit out of them. Your bosses stop caring if you fuck with them, after a certain point.
Ha- I once had a guy talk about fucking me in the ass. Like, literally. He called ME just to look for dudes. By the end of the conversation, I had gotten him to tell me his address, name and phone number and was reading him the signup information for the sale before HE hung up. Cracked me up.
