Ah, nevermind.<br /><br />Obviously someone(s) doesn't/don't want me here, and it's clear the only point of this place is for spamming "elephant feces" on the front page with no creative effort.<br /><br />I'll leave this place and try to remember it how it was back in 2007, not how it is now. Those days have [i]long[/i] past.<br /><br />To be honest, I'm amazed that [user max:profile] has still kept this place up. I would have likely killed it off years ago, or at least disabled site and user creation. Props to him for doing something I wouldn't.<br /><br />And I'll say it again one more time: [user max:profile], if you see this, please at least consider open sourcing this place so it can live on in happier times. Planet is plenty big enough for both formats, no reason to turn this into some strange war.<br /><br />No one is "not showing respect" to the "ex-youtube users," some just prefer one format while others like the more original YTMND style.<br /><br />I can't help you with Youtube problems, you want to battle copywrite claims on a MULTI-BILLION dollar company? Go for it, hire yourself boatloads of lawyers and go after Google/Alphabet then. I think it was about a year ago, in 2015, that I tried Super Mario 64 again. This time, I wanted to be a supreme master at the game. I wanted to read the novel text to text. I wanted to remeber every single line and piece of information the game had to offer. In doing so, the journey ended up becoming two speedrun sessions to 70 stars and beating bowser. The first time it took me about 2 and a half hours. I started at 5PM, and ended at 7:43PM. The next day or so, I tried another speedrun, and got 2 hours. It was at 6PM, ended at 8:06PM. My average therfor is about 2 hours. Wow. With enough mastery, the game can be accomplished in two hours. Two hours! If the game file had a time, the time commited as a child till teenager would of been something like 50+ hours.<br /><br />I have now mastered Super Mario 64 and know the maze. The treasure hunt for stars is fun. There has been no other game like it. Super Mario Sunshine tried to emulated it. It was more advance are based around grahpics. Too hard. Super Mario 64 was the first of it's kind. Low-tech. An embrassing windows 95 game. Something caught in the 90's zeitgist.

the fucking problem im bitched about is top viewed is on the top of the site they whore for it. to go, look, im the on the top of a site. the TOP of a SITE. then they think theyre important. ive said this..<br /><br />this never happened before when the reason to come to the site wasnt who voted up, at the top of the page, but when it was whats being made, so you see it, they only want to be seen. remove the thing that attracts them. <br /><br />seems like they dont care either though, cause some sites get in most viewed today spammed up whatever they want to push.

How do you do that? There are some sites on there that I want to keep forever. Thanks man!

Sites like YTMND are really quite unique and should not be allowed to die off. If founder Max doesn't want to maintain it, perhaps he can sell it for whatever he can get?<br /><br />Though I suppose there is the danger than the buyer would eventually shut it down as well, like happened to the "Jump the Shark" site.

I also just thought of this. Max might have disabled site creation to make backing up easier to prevent too much scope expansion.<br /><br />In addition to the regular database copy, Archiveteam also wants to run a scraping/crawling operation to backup the sites one by one as they are.<br /><br />Stopping further site creation might be the final step...

If this really is the end, I just want to thank Max for creating this place. I had some really good times on this site. Its Golden Age was a thing of beauty- there was so much creativity, and so much craziness. And thanks to all the users who made so many awesome YTMNDs over the years. The internet won't see another place like this again.<br /><br />Truly, we were the men now, dogs.

I don't really have any direct line of contact other than some of the emails he has on some of the domains he owns.<br /><br />I doubt he'd respond on here, and while he has a few online accounts (Reddit, Google,) I doubt he'll respond directly on those either<br /><br />Maybe he just doesn't want to deal with YTMNDers anymore, I guess I can understand, but it's still a little saddening.

I'll tell you why, because some assholes who are against the Suzanne movement want to mute audio in YTMND sites.<br /><br />If you think about how YouTube has suffered from Warner Music Group muting audio over unfair copyfraud infringement suits, you'll see that it is fucking unfair to YouTube users when their favorite songs either get muted, or threaten to shut down their YouTube accounts.<br /><br />YTMND lost some of its popularity over YouTube's popularity, but some YTMND users are late bloomers because YouTube didn't treat them fairly with unfair copyfraud bots.<br /><br />I CAME TO YTMND TO PROTEST THOSE COPYFRAUD BOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<br /><br />The Suzanne movement started in 2014 as a response to the complaints people on YouTube made about muted audio and deleted YouTube accounts. Was there some sort of news recently about the website being killed off? I just assumed it would be up for all eternity.<br /><br />The code base (complete with revisions) arguably should be open sourced though so it could live on. That, and the site content (aside from users/passwords, for obvious reasons.)<br /><br />I've been wanting to implement a version of the 2007 YTMND with HTML5 support for a long time. This place is just one of those things that needs to be preserved (and upgraded) like 'ole Ventrilo.
