Right now, they actively help the government spy on us and some of them get bailed out after they fail and/or produce mediocrity.<br /><br />You say that life has gotten worse for most since the 1980s, but, the US government has been growing since then. It is now bigger than ever. Small government can not be blamed.<br /><br />Also, corporations are creations of government. For a company to be a corporation, it gets a charter from the government. Now, because of this, if the anarchists/anarcho-capitalists had their way, there would be no classic style corporations, at least not as we know them.
