Well, it is a different version of the song I found elsewhere.<br /><br />I'm on the fence about your position. <br /><br />On the one hand, credit where credit is due is a worthy aspiration. I don't intend to steal credit from anyone or claim I invented a joke.<br /><br />On the other hand, the viral nature of alternate, evolving memes is organic and naturally spreads through the communal consciousness. Not every new version of an idea has to pay full tribute the the ancients. There are no new ideas, only new interpretations of old ones.<br /><br />Furthermore, I think mine, the next one and subsequent ones are different enough form the original to stand on their own.<br /><br />Now, if your goal is to preserve order and good citizenry at YTMND, I can appreciate that. But let's face it... the place is largely abandoned by moderation, as made evident by multiple alt accounts, numerous spam sites and a lot of hostile trolling.<br /><br />I try to be a good netizen in my own way, but I'm constantly let down by the lack of moderation and falsely promised prizes for several contests I've won. I won't use that as an excuse to be a malicious user. I will follow the spirit, if not the letter of the law. I do appreciate that the site still runs at someones financial expense, and my tribute is to be an active contributor, rather than a full-on anarchist.<br /><br />Conversely ,if you're just being a control freak, that's okay, I know a lot of control freaks :) but I won't let it shape my way of doing things.<br /><br />I have been using my site title as citations for a few years now.
