When the Federal Reserve issues bailouts and buys companies with billions of dollars that don't actually exist, I consider that creating money willy nilly. They haven't literally printed new money but they have inflated the money supply through credit. Also, economic growth as you are defining it is not a good thing, because it's not based on real wealth. And people should not spend money they don't have, that is pure common sense. I guess in a college economics classroom that's worthless, though.

A small amount of inflation is ideal because the effects of even a small amount of deflation are far worse. Deflation is part of what made the Great Depression so bad. With deflation, people who owe debt end up having to pay it off with more valuable money which means they lose money and stay in debt longer. When no one wants to borrow money and get in debt, economic growth is crippled.

Ever since Ron Paul became an internet phenomenon people have been spreading wild views about the Federal Reserve. In reality, although the Fed can control the money supply with the federal interest rate, they have to keep the rate competitive or otherwise the private member banks would withdraw their deposits. ever since max asked you to make that god damn April fools mix you have plagued the YTMND community with your white key masterpieces. the second half of this tune is quite good but then you go and ruin it by going up and down the scale and giving it the same sound as everything else you do.
