Well, thanks for sharing your views on things and his views on things.<br /><br />Chomsky says that once people behave nicely, then they won't need a government. This may turn out to be true in some future time.<br /><br />Here is where we differ: he says it should stick around until people are nice and rational enough for it to be gone. Maybe even strengthen the government in the meantime. My point is that I am skeptical of this. I think doing this might actually push the end goal further away.<br /><br />First, I think it is fair to say that government is a concept, as opposed to something absolute, like a person, rock, tree, etc.<br /><br />I would say it is a concept of how humans should interact. They do of course have local differences, but there is always or almost always a set series of similarities between them, including a law creator class, which is sometimes the same as the ruler class, an enforcer class. Usually, there are other classes, most typically a war class and a propaganda class.<br /><br />Now, the reason why they are powerful is because people assume they have legitimacy. Why do people typically think this? Because people are raised that way as children to think that way.<br /><br />So even if government buildings are destroyed and armies demolished, politicians and bureaucrats killed, then more people will step in to fill those roles so long as enough people in an area believe that they are needed.<br /><br />So once believe in legitimacy of government is dead, then government will also be dead.

There are no moderators and really there never have been in any real capacity. When there were moderators they would set sites as NSFW, but beyond that, they didn't have the power to do much.<br /><br />The problem stems in that anyone who would be a moderator here is also a member. Each member has their own point of view on who is a troll, what constitutes an offense worth taking action for and what should just be shrugged off.<br /><br />I think one of the fatal flaws of YTMND is the way I built it to be permanent. Once you delete a comment or a user or a site, it's gone for good. For that reason alone I always was afraid to give moderators any real power.

Other candidates would be people like DaveTheRave when and if he had time, which he doesn't.<br /><br />Though max answered a question regarding mods I'd been wanting a clear answer about for years now, so it's pretty much decided that there will be no mods for the dwindling community. mDS proposed an alternate thing but whatever, just seems part a lost cause and part that it would be half-assed at this point.
