^see, thats crap, and just another example of why we dont have it yet. noone would agree, and for good reason. going by length of time on site = "elitism", going by site rating ensures people will downvote openly even less or get alt accounts for downvoting so their 'real' account can be worth more... i still think the biggest solution to YTMNDs various problems is a paid registration fee for all like the SomethingAwful forums - it keeps quality higher and lowers the amount of trolls/gimmicks, but that probably ain't gon ever happen.

i actually think anonymous site submission would be a great feature if that 'paid level users' thing ever happens...

I remember the first YTMND I ever saw was hitlerpimp.ytmnd.com Someone posted it on bluelight forums in summer of 04, I remember seeing a ton of KHAAAAN sites and was like WTF IS THIS. Later I saw NSMB & Finnish Ducktales and finally decided to register and view regularly.

Hey, let's just make the ytmnd page one big list of every single site ever made. Also, get rid of the user system, and take down the ytmnd-o-matic since all these dumbasses are determined to believe that people can't make good ytmnds anymore. Seriously, you guys are way too hard to please.

Real shame that this has to happen, though with the popularity and bandwidth that YTMND generates it was inevitable. Tell you what though, I can help make T-shirt designs. And if I ever get a job (I'm working on it, honest!) I'll be donating to some of my favourite sites.

Also, ever since you put up the ad for the roast of william shatner, the site has been lagging to the point where it closes down.

A mid '05er telling someone who WAS here in 2004 to "ask someone from 2004 what it was like" is cute. I'd be glad to tell you what it was like over PMs if you want. Saying "people won't pay for anything too edgy or offensive" is bullsh*t in the first place. You're putting this site on the level of other forms of entertainment, and you're insane if you think a ton of people wouldn't spend the cash to join this site without a single change being made. If a couple dozen members alone raise over 1000 bucks in just like 2 or 3 days, they'd pay to join the site. "The nature of YTMND has changed from a radical nature to more family-friendly." This thinly veiled cry of "sell-out!" grows more meaningless every day. YTMND is not family friendly, nor will it ever be. There's still nothing preventing anyone from uploading whatever they want, and restrictions are minimal. If this was trying to be "family friendly" Max would lock the site down until all existing sites were modded and sorted properly....

1. I would have infinitely more respect for Colbert if he just took the sites he wanted and showed them without Max having to sign a release. 2. Max could always take content from other sites and just say he's hosting it. That seems to work well elsewhere, and it's not like anyone would ever successfully sue him. 3. Premium membership still = good idea.

Just know that if there will ever be a complete overhaul of YTMND, I don't think I'll like it too much. Restiction breeds creativity. Make Flash allowed in YTMNDs and a lot more will change than you think. ...Wait, this has nothing to do with the news. Glad everything's working out!

As of tomorrow I think I've officially won the Snakes on a Plane fan contest. That being said, I've decided to split the winnings with igberd, who is #2 in the contest, but obviously the true #1 fan.
