Okay so let's say you are correct and there is a God. Who do we believe in? Just about every religion begins with a God creating the universe, but each has severe consequences for coveting 'other gods'. So basically we can guess, and have a 1 in 3000 chance of getting it right and not suffering for all eternity. Sweet.

What about an infinite number of "first" cause? How do you prove that there is solely one? Just like inheritance. Everyone that inherits land, inherits it from someone. But to conclude that all inheritance comes from one person if incorrect. Using that argument, what is preventing there from being an infinite string of 'first causes' or actions into the past? I know that inheritance is a popular counter argument.. can't remember who it's from though.

oooh i love it. There's so much intrigue in the universe. I don't perscribe to god in the sense of a humanized "diety" but rather as existence as we know it, the source and collection of all matter is "god." each quantum change in the universe. God isn't some creature, it is inanimate, we are made of it and everything else is made of it.

I love the first cause theroy, though I remember the problem my philospohy teacher showed us in it, it's circular. It uses beliefe that all actions have causes to prove that there is a cause. That is like saying that all people will eventually die. While it is PROBABLY true, philospohy denies it because it is not concrete. Best arguement for it though.

FLAW- If matter and space are more that 1 dimentional, than why would we assume time is too? We are assuming that the "begining" acctually was the "begining" and not just a point in time where all matter was condensed into one object, prior to the "big bang". Perhaps, time is circular, amd we will eventually return to that one ball of matter after most of the energy has declined and the universe starts to contract. What if there was no begining of time, like there is no begining of a circle. you dumbf*ck.

My ONLY issue about it is that your two statements pertaining intelligence and life are flawed. First and easiest, life can infact come from nonlife, as is self evident as there was no life at the time of the big bang and there is life after the big bang. Intelligence is LARGELY over emphasised in intelligetn beings, as all it is is electrons firing in a certain pattern to better allow a creature to respond to its environment.

You are without a doubt clever, but how do you know that this "First Cause" isn't simply the big bang? Also, if the law that there is a prereqisite for something cannot be destroyed by the "Because he's god" anwser you gave. This is the christian belief that god can prove your point because he's all-powerful coming into play. You basically made your entire argument null with that. 2 for effort.

One man who founded something about science 400 years ago made a *hypothesis* and you are presenting it as fact. If this were true, then something would have been needed to create god. Your statement that "Life cannot come from the unliving" is based in theory. And even if what you were saying was true, how does it prove that there is a magical all-powerful diety that burns you up when you masturbate? You also cited Wikipedia. +1 for NEDM however.

Dhaos endorses. The truth is simple: following logic, it all points towards God. However, since there is no giant flashing sign, atheist will deny it on their own cards. It is not that they don't see proof for God; it is that they are unwilling to give up their sinful nature. This does not apply to all atheist though, but rather those who deny God fervishly after being slammed with this rebuttle.

big bang is not understood at all.
Ultimately, this is an apeal to ignorance. Yes, its true that science has no strong theories on the ultimate origin of the universe (yet), and it may never have such a theory. So, we do not know where we came from. While many at this point would declare that the answer must be "God", there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that the ultimate causation of our universe relates in any way to anything approximating the common idea of God.

Your views of religion are wrong from the start. You assume that all religions say that "aliens don't exist". Not only does Scientology say that this is false, (lol), but there is nothing in Christianity or other religions that I know of that says that aliens can't exist. I don't think God would withold his creativity that much, personally.

Yet still, if everything comes from something, any God there is must have some from something. You can't just say that whatever is outside of our universe is immune to the laws of our universe. It's like saying whatever's outside of Earth's atmosphere is immune to its gravity.
And there WAS a President before Washington. In fact, several. In Congress Assembled.
Let's look at why God DOESN'T exist, though, shall we? What makes Christianity and all that any different than Roman and Greek "mythology"?

...No, it doesn't. All you've "proven," is that there is something intelligent and powerful that created the universe. Not a God that listens to prayers and grants miracles. Lets say you, somehow, actually managed to create matter. And inside that matter was a world similar to ours. on that world, there's a form of life. And they believe it was you who made this world of theirs. So, they decide to construct some buildings and talk (with feeling) to you. Would you listen, let alone be able to hear?

***** CONTINUATION AGAIN ***** There is indesputable proof of animals that looked suspiciously like humans millions of years ago but were not the species we are today. Our ancestors. The "intellect" whetstone speaks of was a gradual natural occurence. We humans are so naive to think that we came about so quickly. We are the pinnacle of modern evolution, the product of over 4 BILLLION years of life that naturally gets better in every way as the variants by chance recieve abilities that help them survive... come about. In far old school billions of year old roots, we all stemmed from bacteria. They're alive. But can they write a college paper? No. Can a primate write a college paper? No. This YTMND gives no conclusive evidence to the existence of a God.

You fail. Causality only works if time flows linearly, the big bang created spacetime, not just space. Anyway, faith in something in which there is no evidence for is silly. There just as well might be a teapot orbiting Mars - does this mean we should all assume its true? It's no more likely or sensible...

Yes, you are right, current scientific evidence shows that the Universe was created through some sort of cosmic event, however there is no scientific evidence that what created it is a seperate entity (which is what you've assumed here). You can't prove God exists with science, all you accomplished here is fail.

Let me start out by saying I'm Atheist. So I do believe in, y'know, the past. I also don't care what others believe. You seem to be saying that religion is evil. I know your disagreeing with me right now, but that's how a veiwer will view this. Now, your main point is that people (christians) preach that they are right. Are you not doing the same? You aren't killing anyone, though. That I know of. But I don't think you are. But you are preaching ideas spawned from the string THEORY, the big bang THEORY and the THEORY of evolution. Yes, these are all rational and you and I believe them, but if it makes someone else feel better that there is some spiritual connection between all of us, then what's the harm? ...

OK then, let's continue with Axiom 1: all things are the product of a cause. And, according to your analysis, there is a "First Cause" that created the universe. But, then, by extension, what is reponsible for this; i.e. what is the Zero-th Cause, if you will? By relying specifically from this axiom in further attribution, the pattern extends backwards infinitely, beyond one point. So, any defined "First Cause" becomes arbitrary, since something must have caused that by your own axioms.

I find your argument lacking to say the least. It was nicely displayed however. I must admit. Regardless, attempting to prove the existence of God is fruitless. This only defines the nature of the argument once more. I consider myself a Secular Humanist. In my opinion, the question of God's existence is unanswerable and unknowable. I do feel strongly that the Abrahamic version of God is highly suspicious. Forgive me, but I fail to understand why a God would "bless" humans with the ability to reason, and then condemn them to suffer in the afterlife for denying him by using the very gift that he granted them. I do not know if a deity exists, however I greatly suspect that you have no more proof or knowledge of that deity than I do. If we are to be condemned to Hell (or some such) for questioning our world, then I'll see you all there. Good day.
