It's not millions of dollars but a private screening of SoaP and tons of fancy new computer gear paid for by donations basically puts you in the same spot of profiting off of theft just like Ebaum. It's artistically defensible theft, sometimes, but legally it's the same sh*t. How the f*ck are you going to operate in a legalist paradigm only when it suits you, then go all "WILD WILD WEST" every other moment? So how's about some consistency: Are you Wyatt Earp or Billy the Kid?

I'm not suing anyone. stop putting words in my mouth nor is a snakes on a plane screening (which is a few days after the movie comes out) something I'm really profiting off of. feel free to criticize me, I'm not the one promoting these "wars", the last time i criticized ebaum was when his dad sent me a c*nty email, so please, get off my nuts.

The point isn't that he's using a group to win the SOAP contest. That's fine. But he's raked in thousands of dollars in site sponsorships. I haven't a clue what's come in from ads. With it, he's bought himself a sh*tload of fancy computer stuff and the winning spot in the SOAP contest, etc. It's not anywhere near as BIG as the kind of theft ebaum does, but it's not like max isn't getting something from our theft of copyrighted works. I think some people would just like to see a little consistency here between "I'll sue you for copyright infringement if you take a similar domain and I'll sh*t-talk you for stealing" vs. "stealing all your source material is okay if you at least say where it's from." Playing both sides really has a stink to it.

I think if you are making $2 or $200,000 off stolen content, you are at least in a gray area, and at most without any moral high ground over Ebaums. The general idea is that since content is contributed by individuals that they hold responsability for unoriginal content, as compared to Ebaums system of submission and review. So the implication is that if YTMND's webmaster and management have not submitted the content, they can claim plausible deniability? That is horsesh*t. When you bring ads and other money making ventures into the picture a responsability is gained, reguardless of the specificintent to use that money. There is no willfull blindness when money becomes involved. And I agree that its morally ambiguous to take from typosquatters while barely acknowledging the prime problem of YTMND. Maybe they should have cited "YTMND"?

Unfortunately, there's no way to have a site like this without someone accusing you of theft. When I hear people complaining about EBaums stealing from someone that stole something else, it makes me ROFL. Let's be serious. Has Max made quite a name for himself? Hell yeah he has. And he's put in a whole helluva lot of work too. It's not all animated gifs and soundfiles. And when there are complaints about stolen content, who do you think gets to hear about it? Do you think Ronald McDonald and Michael J. Fox get calls or E-Mails demanding the content be removed, or else? No. Max gets to hear ALL of the bull sh*t.
Citing. I have always had a problen with it. It's like stealing, but telling them you stole it and that's supposed to make it okey. But let's say for instance that worked, wouldn't you do it? Hell yes, you would. That's all I have for now.

What is the problem with max making money off of his site? I mean he came up with a good idea that alot of people got behind, and worked hard to make it what it is today, so he should be making money. There's a difference between what ebaum does, and what max does. ebaum has a staff who he pays to post stolen content. Max allows anybody on the internet to come to his site and make something funny if they choose to do so, and maybe a few ytmnds are stolen from other websites, but that isn't max's fault, it's the creators fault. By allowing everybody to participate in YTMND, it is hard to moderate that kind of thing, but for Ebaum, he puts maybe 10 things on his page a week, which is incredibly simple to moderate. ebaum knows what he's doing, he knows he's stealing, and he's sure he can get away with it, and thus far, he has for the most part. I mean big f*ckin deal if he used his site to win the snakes on a plane thing? it's his website, and there are no rules against it. just admit you're jealous of success

ten year olds which memes to parrot over and over /= ownage. Stop upvoting sh*t just because it contains fad x, or saying sh*t like '4, would be 5 if you add fad x.' A sites quality has nothing to do with the number of fads you squeeze in. Based on what I've seen in frontpage comments lately I don't expect it to get better anytime soon. I don't know why frontpage became such a noob sandbox, ebaum probably had something to do with all the new users registering, but damn it sucks somebody post the pic of the azn kid eating 1337 cereals and put it in top 15 lol.

If a new site's sources contain "internet*", "Happy*cat", "4chan", "eBaum*" or "Wikipedia", make the site NSFW pending mod review. It's either stolen or another stupid "ZOMG INTARW33bs WOR!!1 DD0Se TH3M!!1" site, both of which I'm tired of. Also, that Happy Cat pic was originally www.happycat.ru/champs/ch6.jpg until it was taken down by the makers, so neither we nor SA nor MySpace nor eBaum have rights to it. (see http://images.google.com/images?q=happycat.ru)

Well.....after dealing with a log-in problem yesterday, I'm finally back! I may have said this already, but I just want to reiterate for the hell of it. Here we go.....it's the freaking internet! Why does he even bother trying to score some schmole, when he's trying to go after someone in a website? People can get away with things on the internet (same with ebaum, but he's a different story....a bad one). He's just wasting his time, when he can go be a bigger douche in real life. Why didn't natural selection get to him? Glad I got that off my chest.
