One point for making fun of Sony, one for having that awesome song, one for having to do with 'troid... But then you lose one for having the pictures and songs all orienting from different games, and one for just switching between two images (teh bawring)... 3-2=1

I hate to tell you, but, the songs in the game are MIDI format... sounds differ based on what you virtual synth you process them through. This was done with the General MIDI synthesizer, and it does sound markedly different from something like the S-YXG70.

Portal is a really great game. I loved every moment of it. Very good gameplay, awesome sense of humor. This YTMND is just a cheap cash-in on portal's popularity. I think quotes from GLaDOS, the weighted companion cube, and the song "Still Alive" all have great YTMND potential...but this just missed the mark.

Well my good sir it is a reference from the game portal. Throughout the game there are radios that play the song. I thought it would be neat to replace an old time radio with a portal radio :)

Sounds similar but did them using the song lower the sales of the record company that was assraping him of money for his creation, probably not. Also the game sound track was most likely not changed from the Japanese version and I doubt were required way back then to give a rat's *ss what song they copied from another country. F*cked up copywright laws are murdering this country's entertainment and need to be completely rewritten from scratch...

Actually this was from TimeSplitters 2, though I think it's a song originally composed elsewhere, as I've heard it outside of games... they did use the monk chants in ED though.
This full song is used for the Notre Dame level in TS2.

Well, there was the time and effort spent in editing the audio as well as creating the gif from the sources.<br /><br />I could argue that adding a picture of a cat on top of meat-spin with an mp3 from a video game is terrible and brings nothing new to the table as well. <br /><br />Anyway, my point is, I didn't merely just digg something. I created a YTMND just like many others. I also don't feel as though dropping an annoying image on top of it, or adding annoying noises to the song, would have benefited the YTMND.<br /><br />We can go around in circles about this for a week, but I'll agree to disagree.

? WRONG AGAIN! I reached 20000 and needed something new; some new idea that would keep my interest and my focus in the midst of my longest hunt ever.<br /><br />The idea was filming encounters for Ponyta while listening to music at the same time. It keeps me excited, interested and most of all, able to put up with filming and charging all day. Plus, the thought of getting a shiny with awesome music in the background really added to the inspiration.<br />So, I started this and got up to 23000. Never the less, all my hope was already gone and only focus remained. I had a duty to do; and I was starting to like this new method of hunting, with the epic music and all.<br /><br />Every time I was tempted to hunt without the camera, this weird feeling from inside kept telling me to film and listen while encountering. But, when I got to 25000, I started to lose hope. But all the people on YouTube kept predicting and that pushed me as well.<br /><br />And today, I get it. I was losing my focus at 25940 encounters (because there was no way it would shine before 26000. I was just hurrying up and encountering (Sorry if my singing annoys you). But, my longest hunt EVER ended 28 encounters later (10 on each game).<br />After a grand total of 230 days (December 2nd, 2009 to July 19th, 2010), 25968 encounters (25970) if you count each and every encounter, my shiny finally appeared! And it was Ponyta too!<br /><br />[A whole bunch of people predicted when he'd finally find the thing; I removed the list for space]<br /><br />So, I would like to congratulate TheVipersRKO1 for predicting the closest.<br /><br />The song in the video is -- No Reason, by Sum41<br /><br />I do not own the song in this video, it is just used for entertainment. I am not making any kind of profit on this video whatsoever.<br /><br />Thanks for watching everyone!

There are dozens of ways to do this kind of thing, depending on your training, skills, patience, and a bunch of other variables. The first way is to just do it the old fashioned way. Pretend it's 1986 and get yrself to coding some basic animation just like yr dad would have when he was making Leisure Suit Larry. Oregon Trail was originally built with HP Time-Shared BASIC, fer christ's sake.<br /><br />Another angle is to do it in AfterEffects. Most of the AE tutorials on YouTube are made by idiots for asses and don't really explain start to finish what you really need to know to make something this complex but, unless you think in code, AE would be the easiest way to turn whatever material you have into 16- or 8-bit sprites so you can build the animation up from there. (this crappy tutorial at least gives you a sense of where to begin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhDe5SfHfGs)<br /><br />Then there's the way-beyond-my-coding-abilities method, where you use some new language or another to stylize or "de-bit" or down sample or pixelate contemporary footage, making it look like some 1987 CD-ROM game intro or cut screen. This is a terrible cover by a terrible band of an even more terrible song but check out what the poor sap of a code monkey spent every waking moment of his life for like two weeks coding to sections of this video footage into thousands upon thousands of "8-bit" cubes, just for a shitty music video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwQZQygg3Lk
