Dave Werner is leaving town, possibly forever. Friday is his last day on the job, so his friends are taking half-days from work and going to Anna Liffeys, an Irish pub on Church St. in New Haven, to get drunk and celebrate Dave's life. Here's a thought- an "I don't get it" shirt. I saw a YTMND touting a design for such a shirt, though I forget where.

"Maybe you could save money by getting rid of features that cost you un-needed bandwidth. Like the large 404 page." True. I say go right back to "Site not found. :(", or show it less often. Also, add code to the assets pages so that they can ONLY be downloaded from those pages and not by themselves (example, "http://content.ytmnd.com/content/0/2/c/02c9dc224ded27d701fcde31b12f96bf.wav?ip=blahblah&timeInEncryptedForm=fef26a7b", and check if the current server time's 3 minutes or less beyond that time). The determined, of course, can find deliberate ways around that to get it on their Myspace things, but that's a different problem.

Syncan, is it really necessary to make the preloader compatible with WAV files? The real advantage of the WAV is that there is no gap at the end and it can loop seamlessly. Most sites that need to be synchronized do not need a seamless loop, since they are short films anyway. They need to sync properly when it repeats. Is it possible to remove that gap at the end of an MP3, or get it to start the sound over at a specific time instead of playing to the end? To be continued...

i'm naive and have too much faith in the goodness of YTMND sometimes. I think a big problem right now is YTMND got so big that it became more difficult and infrequent for sites to play off each other and people still get it. single standalone ytmnds that dont push the site forward are more prevalent. sometimes thats good (ie AskAaks consistently original material) but other times its very bad (hey guys! check out this hilarous prank call from a morning show I recorded!)
