I think a good way to get it back to the old layout would be to switch Featured Users with Top Viewed, and put Top Rated above Recently Created. Top Rated and Top Viewed are supposed to have the currently best sites, but they're at the bottom of the page. Instead the first thing visitors see is Recently Created and Featured Users, both of which almost always have bad sites. (I know about Customized Layouts, but people visiting the site definitely will not)

User Moderation is a horrible idea with the rampant circlejerking that YTMND has succumbed to over the last 8 months. Part of the reason I hardly come to the site any more. I wish we could get it back to the way it used to be. The pink names just glorified the exact thing ytmnd did not need. Especially for users that do not live on the site.

Another possibility is to force users to upload through a Flash "uploader widget" which would save the file to the server and then if necessary, convert it to a ByteArray and save it to the server. There are two issues I see with this option, first is security. I'm sure someone would figure out how to inject malicious code into a ByteArray and get it saved on the server. Another issue is that it wouldn't be able to convert the millions of assets that we already have.
