The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 is an American animated television series based on the video game Super Mario Bros. 3. It aired on NBC with Captain N: The Game Master in a programming block titled Captain N & The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 from September 8, 1990 through December 1, 1990. It is the second of the three TV shows based on the video game, with the others being The Super Mario Bros. Super Show and Super Mario World. Unlike its predecessor, this series has no live-action segments and features entirely new voice actors, with the exceptions of John Stocker and Harvey Atkin, who reprised their roles as Toad and King Koopa. Captain N: The Game Master is a American-Canadian joint-venture animated television series that aired on television from 1989 to 1991 as part of the Saturday morning cartoon lineup on NBC. The show is produced by DIC Entertainment and incorporated elements from many of the most popular video games of the time from the Japanese company Nintendo. There was also a comic book version by Valiant Comics, despite only featuring characters from games produced by Nintendo. Saturday Supercade is an animated television series produced for Saturday mornings by Ruby-Spears Productions. It ran for two seasons on CBS beginning in 1983. Each episode is composed of several shorter segments featuring video game characters from the golden age of video arcade games. The debut characters included: Frogger (from the Frogger arcade game) Donkey Kong with Mario and Pauline (from the Donkey Kong game) Donkey Kong Jr. (from the Donkey Kong Jr. game) Q*bert with Coily, Ugg, Wrongway, Slick and Sam (from the Q*bert arcade game) Pitfall Harry with his pet mountain lion Quickclaw and his niece Rhonda (unlike others, which are arcade games, this is from home console games, which are Pitfall! and Pitfall II: Lost Caverns) The cartoon was simply called Pitfall!. Pitfall and Q*bert rotated weekly while the other three were weekly. During the second season, Q*bert (now weekly) and Donkey Kong remained while the Frogger, Donkey Kong Jr. and Pitfall Harry segments were replaced by shorts featuring: Space Ace with Space Ace/Dexter (depending on his form), Kimberly, and Borf (from the Space Ace arcade game). Uses a cut scene from Hotel Mario which is available on quebecgamers' website. I thought that the noticeable sound distortion in the raw clip from quebecgamers was pretty funny, along with the delay between Mario saying "Where there's smoke" and Luigi saying "There's fire!".

I didn't know if anyone had found similarities between these two game themes before, so I mashed them together to see what happened. Then I found sprites from Mario Kart 64, and then it wasn't too hard to paste them onto an empty Special Stage track once I found a Genesis emulator that could disable layers and take unfiltered screenshots.
